C’est arrivé près de chez vous ( Man bites Dog ) reste sans conteste l’acte fondateur pour Vincent Tavier et l’état d’esprit dans lequel La Parti est née. Tourné dans une grande innocence, dans un esprit très collectif, ce film devenu culte a donné à ses auteurs une place déterminante dans le cinéma belge et international. Après la production exécutive de la série Les Carnets de Mr Manatane (toujo
urs avec Benoît Poelvoorde) Vincent Tavier réunit en 1999 les membres fondateurs de la Parti Production : Guillaume Malandrin et Stéphane Vuillet, auteurs/réalisateurs ; Philippe Kauffmann, juriste de formation et producteur/programmateur dans le domaine des arts de la scène ; rejoints plus t**d par Adriana Piasek-Wanski. Unis par une certaine idée du cinéma et de la production, leurs choix les portent d’emblée vers des projets hors normes, balisant le terrain d’un cinéma particulier, à l’humour décalé et repoussant les limites des genres visités (fantastique, thriller…). Après la production de quelques courts-métrages, ils se lancent dans l’aventure de longs, en développant leur marque de fabrique : films et œuvres sans concession aux goûts du jour, faits en toute indépendance. Plus concrètement, depuis sa création en 1999, La Parti a développé plusieurs spécificités :
l’accompagnement à long terme d’auteurs originaux dans la production d’abord de leurs courts métrages, ensuite dans la mise en chantier de leur premier long métrage. Il en fut ainsi pour 3 auteurs : Fabrice du Welz, Guillaume Malandrin et Martine Doyen;
le développement d’un secteur spécifique de production de films d’animations, à ce jour plusieurs courts-métrages ( Chez Noël, Dji Vou Veu Volti ), une série de 20 épisodes de 5’ Panique au village dont l'adaption en long format s'apprête à débarquer sur nos écrans, une série de courts métrages Klaus Kermesse et la coproduction d’une œuvre collective Peur(s) du noir signée de grands noms de la Bande dessinée (Blutch, Burns, Caillou) ;
la recherche de coproductions multilatérales. Parmi ses partenaires privilégiés : la France (Prima Linea, Made In Productions, Liaison Cinématographique, les Films d'Ici, Gebeka Films), les Pays-Bas (Circe Films, Graniet Film), le Luxembourg (Melusine Productions, Tarantula) et enfin la Norvège (Friland) ;
et enfin, la volonté constante d’inventer des formes alternatives de production, en faisant appel à des formes de financement ou des méthodes de tournages légères et inventives, (re)donnant une souplesse tant à l’acte créatif que de production (4 exemples : le court métrage Das Fantastische Nacht , le faux documentaire UFO’s boven Geel et les longs métrages Aaltra et Ca m’est égal si demain n’arrive pas). Aujourd’hui, La Parti affirme plus encore sa méthode de production alternative, différente par les sujets abordés dans les films (et leur approche non consensuelle de ses sujets), la façon de les fabriquer, l’ouverture à des castings originaux, et, plus que tout, le dialogue permanent avec les auteurs.
