The sun shone over Brussels as our events team wrapped up this year’s Civil Protection Forum with EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺

🤝 650 experts gathered in Brussels to forge a new future for civil protection in the wake of unprecedented challenges such as floods and forest fires caused by and the destruction wrought by the devastating war in Ukraine.

The event featured high-level speakers from Ukraine and across the EU and included:

Behind the words ‘civil protection’ are the men and women who keep us safe by fighting fires, rescuing us from floods, removing us from bombsites and getting the right equipment to the right place at the right time. We often owe them our lives.

🎧 Why choose headset as favourite work object?
The prevailing object in my work as a PM is the headset, which is key for my communication with team members.💬 XLS spreadsheets are also crucial, but let’s face it, they are not ideal for a snapshot.😅

📝 What gets you worked up at the moment?
🗣️ Worked up is not the right word for it, but I am all for meditation and balance (literally and figuratively). 🧘

📝 Something that most of your colleagues don’t know?
🗣️ There are a lot of things they don’t know. I am pretty transparent, but knowing each other requires definitely more than 6 months. 👀 Even a lifetime! 🧐 To only mention one, for those who haven’t noticed (probably most, because of Teams): 9 months ago, I decided to not dye my hair again, so I’m going silver full force 💪 and very happy with it.😀

🗣️ On a beach, 🏖️ on a sunny warm day, ☀️ with a book. 📖

I’m a journalist who moved over to the ‘dark side’, aka communications and PR. I’m Tipik’s new Communications Officer. I’m a coffee drinker ☕, a dog father 🐶, and I love good whodunnit crime films 😱 (spoiler alert: it’s always the spouse).

☎️ Why choose a phone as favourite work object?
Because I’m an old soul, and I like phone gossiping. Also, it’s one of the basic tools for my job. 💬

📝First thing you do when you start work?

🗣️ There is no work (or life, really) before coffee, so I make sure I have my coffee ammunition in place. Once I’m armed with caffeine, I hit the start button on my laptop.

📝 What's your perfect day like?

🗣️ I hate the ‘perfection’ mentality, and I’m sure I wouldn’t enjoy a perfect day, so why even begin to discuss it? 🤷

📝 What would you be doing if you weren't at Tipik?

🗣️ I would probably be a gardener 🌸. I’m allergic to most flowers and plants, but when I tell people that this is my dream job, I get the cute “aww” reaction. Don’t know why but I’m always amused when people do that.

🗣️Film. TV shows are too long and I’m too impatient.

📝 Pizza or Quinoa

🗣️That’s not even a dilemma. Who in their right mind likes Quinoa?

We’ve all seen images of Ukrainians forced to leave their lives, loves and homes to stay alive.
One of our event partners, Sirena Events, has taken to the road to deliver donations to the Moldovan border and help relieve some of the suffering.
Our team helped fill the lorries by donating clothes, food and medicine.
We can all help . It’s not only about solidarity, it’s about humanity.

What better way to mark than to shine a light on those 🇪🇺 researchers improving our understanding and treatment of the disease.
