Antoine Wiertz (22 Février 1806 Dinant - Ixelles-Ixelles / Bruxelles 1865) était un peintre sculpteur et écrivain Belge visionnaire. Il était l'une des figures artistiques Belges les plus controversés et les plus fascinantes du mouvement Romantique. L'objectif principal de cette page est de permettre de restaurer son musée à son état d'origine, rendre pleinement accesable au public nouveau, et de manière optimale le préserver pour la postérité. Tout aussi importante est la publication urgente d'un catalogue des œuvres complètes de Wiertz (à l'heure actuelle, il existe aucune publication illustrée en couleurs!) d'apporter sa vie et son oeuvre extraordinaire de nouveau à l'attention du grand public amateur d'art. Le Musée Wiertz (y compris son atelier, sa maison et son jardin), qui a conservé beaucoup de son atmosphère originale, mais les besoins urgents de restauration (à la fois l'œuvre et le bâtiment!), est situé dans le quartier Léopold de Bruxelles, juste derrière le Parlement Européen. Antoine Wiertz (22 februari 1806 Dinant - Elsene-Ixelles / Brussel 1865) was een visionair Belgische schilder, beeldhouwer en schrijver. Hij was één van Belgiës meest controversiële en fascinerende artistieke figuren van de Romantische beweging. Het hoofddoel van deze pagina is het mogelijk maken om zijn museum in de oorspronkelijke staat te herstellen, het opnieuw volledig toeganklijk te maken voor publiek en het optimaal te vrijwaren voor het nageslacht. Al even belangrijk is de dringende publicatie van een catalogus met het complete werk van Wiertz (op dit moment bestaat er geen enkele publicatie met kleurenillustraties!) om zijn uitzonderlijke leven en werk weer onder de aandacht van het grote kunstminnende publiek te brengen. Het Wiertzmuseum (met inbegrip van zijn atelier, huis en tuin), dat nog grotendeels zijn oorspronkelijk atmosfeer heeft bewaard maar dringende restauratie nodig heeft (zowel de kunstwerken als het gebouw!), is gelegen in de Leopold Wijk van Brussel, vlak achter het Europees Parlement. Sinds 1868 behoord het Wiertzmuseum tot de Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van België, zoals de kunstenaar het heeft gewild, als 'museum gewijd aan zijn glorie, een monument opgericht voor de glorie van de natie'.
