🇧🇬✨ Discover one of Sofia's most iconic landmarks, the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky! This architectural marvel is a must-visit when exploring Bulgaria’s capital.

📜 Did you know? The idea to build this magnificent cathedral as a memorial to the Liberation of Bulgaria was conceived in 1879. Prince Alexander I of Battenberg laid the foundation stone in 1882, and it took over 40 years to complete this grand project.

🔔 The 12 bells of the cathedral, made of copper and lead, were crafted in Moscow and arrived in Sofia in 1911. They were consecrated on September 11 of that year and gradually placed in the 53-meter-high bell tower.

🏛️ Despite the delays caused by wars, the cathedral was finally consecrated in 1924. Today, it stands tall, welcoming about 5,000 worshippers and admirers into its sacred space.

🧐 Take a step back in time and explore the fascinating history and stunning old photographs of this iconic cathedral.
