Blood pressure… do you know your normal pressure levels? How much does it fluctuate? Does stress cause it to skyrocket? Do you have “white coat syndrome “? Did you know that normal “ideal” pressure for someone without health diagnoses is BELOW 120/80? Did you know that uncontrolled blood pressure is proven to lead to early onset; cognitive decline, decreased heart function, kidney failure, cardiovascular disease to name a few? Check with your doctor about early control of blood pressure? A home monitor is an adequate way to assist. If this is your choice, consult a healthcare professional first. Use an arm monitor the right size for more consistent and accurate readings.
Ever heard of it? The Fight or flight response refers to the Sympathetic response from your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) part of your brain’s awareness. This is innately a survival response provoking stimulation which in today’s society is known as “Stress” of some kind. What causes this? - text messages, news casts, tv shows, mail, driving, … (not an exhaustive list) Not all stress is bad and the ANS can handle a lot of it. Ratios of five (5) units of stress to one (1) unit of our best rest have been cited. The opposing response has been coined “Rest & Digest”, also known as a parasympathetic ANS/ Healing response. What causes this? - Prayer, meditation, relaxed breathing, walks on beach, time with loved ones and at peace. Can you cause your nervous system and body frequency to vibrate and resonate at parasympathetic healing states? Every time you do it it is like putting money in the bank for your body. Top up daily for best results.

Here’s to simple things making you smile this year! d
An estimated 250,000 kg of arsenic(As) is disposed of in agricultural lands as fertilizer in the form of chicken litter. This litter has also been feed to beef cattle as an economical source of protein, minerals and energy. Because As is water soluble it ends up in our food supply. Rice and chicken are the primary sources of As exposure. Interestingly, rice grown in California has 41% lower As levels than Southern and Central US. Arsenic based pesticides have been used for over a century for cotton fields. And while these inorganic applications are now banned, the soils are still contaminated with it. Arsenic can contaminate US wines in the same way and could pose a health risk. (Lower IQ in children, skin, liver, lung, bladder cancers) But there is good news!Turmeric and curcumin has been found to prevent DNA damage caused by arsenic and facilitate the repair of the Enzymes responsible for DNA repair. Beta carotene in the blood has also been found to protect DNA mutations leading to cancer x 100! So if you gonna have rice, chicken and wine, why not pair it with turmeric and sweet potato :)
