Taking meat into Botswana and Namibia
We receive regular questions about taking meat and other fresh produce into Botswana and Namibia from South Africa. Due to the FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) outbreak in Limpopo, no meat may cross the border from South Africa to Namibia or Botswana. This regulation includes biltong, animal hides, dairy products and eggs. At some of the border posts you might even find they confiscate fruit and vegetables. This means that canned products and UHT products are the best option until this ban is lifted.

Riley's Hotel is certainly the place to stay if you are on business in Maun. The hotel is rich in history and known for its excellent service.
We received an Email stating that we got the history of Riley's Hotel wrong. it was not build by Harry Riley in 1910 but by his father in 1901.
"My late wife was the niece of Harry de Beauvoir Riley and granddaughter of his father, Charles who actually founded the hotel. In 1901 Harry was a youth of 15, born in 1895." - Victor Southern
