We would like to Congratulate Joe Gibbson and Freedom Foundation for expanding their facility, which will allow them to assist more men who are recovering from addictions. Habermehl Contracting Ltd. had the extraordinary pleasure of working along side of the Foundation to help them achieve their vision.

Hi, I am Giselle! It is a pleasure to meet you all.
My role at Habermehl Contracting specializes in being the front-end coordinator, ranging from communications, scheduling as well as marketing. I take pride in making sure each one of our clients and associates needs are met.

Let's get to know each other a little more! My hobbies include reading, romantic comedies, and psychological thrillers as well as spending quality time with my family. What are yours?

Every project we take on is reviewed by our CEO, Dwight, and our Contractor Assistant, Adam. They make sure we are the right fit for the project and the project is the right fit for us. It’s one of the ways we keep quality central to the project. It’s that small-company attention to detail, even while running large-scale projects, that makes us proud of the work we do.

Meet Our Team!

The man with the plan whose name is… Dwight.

Dwight is our CEO and President! He creates the vision and purpose that drives our team and ensures that your project is completed with the same excellence and quality that his father valued when forming the company in 1963. Dwight loves fostering a healthy and productive environment for customers and staff alike, that produces beautiful homes.

When Dwight is not renovating houses, he is spending time with his family (his wife, Kristen and one of his five children, Josiah, are in the pictures) or riding his ATV in the Valley.

It’s amazing when the plans come together on a major renovation. This house really needed a new foundation and fortunately is getting set up right!

This client converted their garage into additional living space for their family. This is a great way to meet a practical need if you aren’t making great use of a garage!

We get a lot of questions about backyard suites! So we have developed three video walk-thrus of backyard suites that could be built, and some quick fact sheets to go with them.

Both of these examples are in the 900 sq ft range but these are just meant to get ideas flowing. We can build whatever size you desire. In fact, we can design a suite for you from scratch!

This beautiful addition and renovation lets the natural beauty of its surroundings in. I mean, what more could you ask for?!

Beautiful renovation and addition to this property after a severe fire forced it to be gutted to the studs. We are so happy to have this job complete and for the family to be able to enjoy their home again!

We are really proud and excited to be building an addition for the Freedom Foundation in Dartmouth.

The Freedom Foundation of Nova Scotia, a prominent not-for-profit organization, continues its dedicated mission of fostering recovery from various addictions, including alcohol, gambling, and drug dependency. Established in 1988, the Foundation has been pivotal in supporting men aged 19 and over on their journey to recovery and self-rediscovery. 

We are excited to partner with The Freedom Foundation to help them provide an addition that will allow them to accommodate up to 5 more men, getting them out of homelessness and addiction.

We are excited to announce that we were recently certified as a Qualified Adaptiv Home Specialist by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

Adaptiv Home Renovation is an approach to adapting a home for individuals who want to stay in their home for as long as they can, regardless of age or condition. These services are relevant for people who have experienced sudden and lasting injuries and those living with progressive heath conditions.

CHBA Qualified Adaptiv Home Specialists are renovators, contractors, architects, designers, and other professionals who have the knowledge and skills required to undertake renovation projects to accommodate individuals living with a disability, a progressive condition, or those looking to age in place. Professionals with this designation have proven their expertise in specific building knowledge on ramps and slopes, zero-step thresholds, curb less showers, accessibility equipment, home automation solutions and much more. They have been trained in associated client communication, empathy, privacy, insurance, and legal considerations.

One Friday a month we order some pizzas and have lunch together. We call it “Pizza Friday!” It’s delicious (shoutout to for the amazing pizzas!).

This Friday we also celebrated an upcoming birth! Our office administrator, Jake, and his wife, Kay, are expecting their first child: a boy, due the end of February! While Jake was out getting the pizzas, the office was decorated, and gifts were wrapped!
