Matching Dalmatians in need with loving homes since 1996."We've Saved A Spot For You"Michelle Raoul Winters

We’re still looking for the perfect home for Herbie.

There was a great home but their dog didn’t care for him. Another home seemed like it could be good but the family didn’t want to bring their dogs to do a meet and greet. Please note that no reputable rescue will let you take a dog home without ensuring the dogs in the home and the adopted dog get along well FIRST.

So far we’ve learned that Herbie has had very little basic training. He has been practicing “sit”. He has a lot of energy and will need regular exercise, of course. He was probably allowed on furniture in the past. If that’s a strong no in your household, it would probably add to the long list of things Herbie still needs to learn. He’s friendly and hasn’t had isssues with any of the people he’s met. He’s also done well with young children but I still feel a home with older kids would be best. Herbie could possibly do ok in a home with a cat. He showed interest but was respectful. But again, ideally, a quiet dog only home would probably make for the easiest transition. We do feel like he will enjoy a dog friend, and that dog could do a lot to support his training/behaviour journey by showing him how to act like a good boy. Herbie is still only a week and a half past his neuter and there has been some hu***ng. This could relax in the coming weeks as the hormones work their way out, but some may still remain because of over stimulation. The females he’s hu**ed gave him a quick and certain NO, and he complied. One unneutered 10yr old man Husky thought Herbie was just an acting like a silly kid so they took turns hu***ng for a bit and then moved on to just hanging out in the yard together.
He’s learning that the crate is a safe and comfortable space. He’s being taken on leash walks to explore the neighborhood, and spending supervised time in the backyard.
A solid 6’ fence will be required and he shouldn’t be left outside unattended. Personally, I believe this should be true for any dog, but it is a requirement for Herbie’s new home.

Please message me at 902-830-6224 or [email protected] to see if you might make a great forever home for Herbie.

As always, a personal interview, a vet reference, 2 personal references, a meet and greet with your dog, and a home visit will all be required as a part of the application/adoption process.

We’re calling him Herbie, because he’s a real Love Bug!

This boy came to us through one of the SPCAs in NB. He’s very petite for the breed, about 45lbs. We’re guessing he’s between 1.5 to 2 yrs old. He’s had very little training and has a lot of energy. He will be a bit of a “project dog” for the adopter but with a bit of effort we think he will make a wonderful and loving pet.

One of our volunteers bathed him last night after pulling him from the shelter and he behaved very well throughout the process. Had no trouble having his paws handled and his face scrubbed. He was just neutered this morning, and is UTD on shots. He’s located in Moncton for now.

Any children in the home should be 15 or older. They should be dog savvy and used to living with an energetic dog. He does still jump up at times. The energy and lack of training probably means cats would not appreciate him. He has lived with another dog in the past and at the shelter he was happily interested in other dogs in nearby kennels or ones he saw when taken outdoors for walks. An appropriate introduction is important. We will give preference to someone with a solid fenced in yard.

There will be an application process that involves a personal interview, 2 references, your vet contact information, and a home visit. There will be a $100 adoption fee.

Serious inquiries only, please. Email Michelle at [email protected] or text me at 902-830-6224.

Soooo true!

Marco spent his first night in his new home and all went well. He seems really happy to have a “sister” to play with. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in Marco.

Photos from Atlantic Canadian Dalmatian Rescue's post 02/25/2024

I’ve been having trouble with this post about Marco. It keeps disappearing on me! I know it’s appeared at least once, because I have received a Messenger request to learn more about him 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Marco is a handsome 1yr old dalmatian who is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He’s happy go lucky with tons of energy. He’s used to living with one of the dog in the home, but otherwise hasn’t socialized much beyond dogs owned by close family members. He also lives with a cat without much issue, but he continues to try to convince the cat to be his best friend. If there are children in the new home, we would prefer at least elementary school age and hopefully experienced in living with a dog. He is crate trained. After a big walk, and some play in the yard, Marco would love to snuggle with you on the sofa. Your favorite TV show or movie will definitely be his favorite too.

Marco is at the prime of adolescence! He has learned some commands, but lacks some maturity. Counter cruising has taught him that it will usually result in finding something good to eat. He sometimes finds it hard to remember the difference between his toys and other interesting things lying around the house. He’s figured out that if he puts his paws up on the door or the front window, he gets a much better view of what’s going on outside.

Anyone adopting Marco will be required to sign up for a basic obedience class. He will be able to show off how smart he is and it will be a great bonding experience for the two of you. A fenced yard is preferred.

If you’re interested in learning more about Marco, please reach out via Messenger. Or contact me by email at [email protected].

Someone tell me I’m not crazy 🤣🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
The post for Marco completely disappeared! The only proof I have that I did post it last night is that I’ve had some messages asking for more info. I don’t know what’s going on with Facebook, but it’s very frustrating!

Marco is a one year-old dalmatian looking for a new home. He’s neutered, up-to-date on shots, and full of puppy energy. He lives with one other dog, but doesn’t have a lot of experience socializing beyond the dogs owned by family friends. He currently lives with a cat. He really wishes the cat would play with him and continues to try to convince her that they should become best friends, despite the cat not being interested. He currently lives with a six year old child. If there are kids in his new home, we would prefer older children who have had experience living with a dog.

Marco is quite high energy which is typical for a dalmatian his age. He’s going to need lots of exercise and maybe some stimulation activities, like dog puzzles. He’s a very nice boy, but still need some training. He sometimes finds it hard to tell the difference between his toys and other interesting items around the house. He likes to counter cruise and look for food. He also enjoys jumping up on the front door/window where he can see what exciting things might be happening in the yard. Signing up for a training class will be required. He will be excited to learn, and it will be a great bonding experience for him and his new owner. Mario is a huge snuggler. He will want to be close enough to you to literally be touching. Sitting on the sofa together to watch a movie after a big walk, will be his favorite thing.

If you think you would make a good home for Marco, please message me here. Or you can reach me by email at [email protected]

UPDATE: Gunner went on a trial stay with a new home and all went very well! They love him and he loves them. It’s a “happily ever after” success story! Thank you everyone who supported Gunner on his journey. And a special thank you to his foster and health treatment coordinator, Carola Catharina Adams.

Ok. Sweet Gunner is STILL looking. Our New Year’s Resolution is to find him a forever home ASAP

Gunner is 3 1/2 yrs old and up to date on vaccines. He knows, sit, stay, down, and shake a paw. He walks well on leash. His recall isn't perfect, but it's much better when he knows you have treats! He is extremely well house trained. He loves to play fetch! He would get along really well with a non dominant male or female dog. Email: [email protected] if you’re interested in meeting him! He’s currently located near Fredericton.

Gunner is ready for his new home!
***He’s currently located in Fredericton NB.

Thanks to all who donated to his recovery. His tail has healed amazingly!

Gunner is a 3 yr old male Dal. He’s playing well with other dogs he’s with and is very loving to people. We prefer him in a home with a female or as the only dog. No young children. He will thrive best in a calm, mature environment. We have no idea how he would interact with cats. So best to say no to those. He loves to play fetch and run around. And he also loves to snuggle. Typical Dalmatian!

If you think Gunner might be a match for your home, please contact myself, or you can reach out to Carola at [email protected] Please provide your cell number and email.

Serious inquiries only. We want to find a loving, committed home for this guy. He deserves it!

11/16/2023

UPDATE on Gunner.

Thank you everyone who may have donated. It’s allowed us to keep them in very good care. He’s had several vet appointments monitoring the severe wound. We were almost certain he was going to lose his tail. But he’s had a great recovery.

Gunner has flourished! His tail is almost all healed; just a small area the size of a dime that still needs to heal. It’s an amazing recovery! There was real concern that he was going to lose his tail. The cone has come off, and as long as he doesn't lick his tail, it will stay off.
He is happy and loves playing with the female Dal in the house. He’s very sweet. He’s interacting well with people and giving kisses.

The best news is we think Gunner will be ready for a new home in a week or two. Gunner is 3 1/2 years old. He would do best with a female dog as a companion or as an only dog. Due to his past history, we suggest no kids under 12 and no cats. He is pretty laid-back guy for a Dal. He will need a good walk each day but will likely come home and chill on the sofa afterwards. he is currently located in Fredericton New Brunswick.

You can message or email me ([email protected]) or Carola ([email protected]) if you think you can give him a great home!

10/27/2023

We will keep you updated. Thanks so much 💗

Sorry for the graphic picture!

Gunner is a foster dog we brought in after he was attacked by another dog in the household when they were mistakenly let out in the yard together. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this wound is not as bad as it looks. He’s on a strong round of antibiotics, and doing Manuka honey treatment under Vet supervision, while crossing our fingers that there’s not underlying nerve damage that might require a tail amputation. He’s being a very sweet boy while receiving treatment. Once he’s on the mend we will be looking for a home for him.
If you are in a position to make a donation, even the smallest amount would be greatly appreciated. Every bit adds up.
Donations can be made through etransfer to [email protected]. Or you can make a payment directly to the Vet who is supervising his care: City Animal Hospital, 506-458-9223. Please make sure you let them know it is for Gunner the Dalmatian.
Thank you!

Happy Saturday from Pongo! Pongo recently came to us as a stray and is looking for his furever home. He is a sweet, energetic, 3-year-old Dalmatian guy with a fun personality! He likes going for walks, playing fetch, and lounging outside in the yard. He’s super friendly and loves people and getting pet! He seems to be okay with other dogs, and we think he’d be fine in a home with older children. Please apply if you’d like to meet Pongo! ❤️

This isn’t a rescue but it is an opportunity to bring a great Dalmatian into your home.
For those of you not familiar with responsible breeders, unlike BYBs or puppymills, breeding dogs only have a few litters before retiring to become a family pet.

London comes from an amazing breeder where she was a show dog. She traveled to shows across Canada and the US, has both her Canadian and American Championships, and has passed on her amazing genes by having a couple of litters. Now is London’s time to enjoy a pet life with a forever family of her own. She’s 5.5yrs. Gets along with other dogs but not cats. More info in photos.

I would take her myself if I didn’t already have two 5yr old Dalmatians!
