Today we stood to support our brothers & sisters of along with family & friends. We salute a career & sacrifice of Captain John Dennis Wilcox. After fighting a courageous battle with cancer for the past year, it is with great sadness we say goodbye. .
Today we stood beside our brothers & sisters of at an LODD funeral for FF Pete Colin Dauphinee.He spent 5 yrs with & later he joined Vaughan Fire,serving for 25 yrs. Our condolences to his family & all who knew him. Rest easy brother.

This past weekend, members of our BFES Combat team attended the World Firefighter Championship in Stuart Beach Florida. This event had 350 competitors, Firefighter Katie Ross placed 1st overall for women under 40 with a fast time of 2:01, and placed 2nd in female tandem. In the mixed tandem event Firefighter Jason Woodford and Katie placed 3rd overall. Also, retired District Chief Peter Reid was inducted into the FireFit World Hall of Fame.

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation Sept. 30 marks the day that honours the children who never returned home & Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families & communities. Public commemoration is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

IAFF COLORADO SPRINGS MEMORIAL.This past weekend located in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs,the Memorial honors the sacrifice made by all IAFF members who have given their lives in the line of duty. It was our Honour to attend once again.
We saw the worst & the best in people that day. Although 9/11 was 22 yrs ago it feels like only yesterday to some.We need to always make time to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

Congratulations to the Ontario Fire Lacrosse team. They came home with a bronze medal beating FDNY 13-8 in the Bronze Game. team members included: Goaltender Tim Dupuis, Brandon Howes, Mike Gillan, Paul Dawson, Chris Terry, and Will Walker. Congratulations to all!
Sisters & Brothers,We are very sad to announce the passing of Retired Local 1068 member Bruce Doan #330 earlier today.He is survived by his wife Sonia & his son Norm.Our thoughts & prayers are with the Doan family at this most difficult time.Funerals details to follow.
Thank you BFES Honour Guard for representing us at this memorial service today. On behalf of Local 1068 we thank all the Korean War Veterans and all who fought for our freedoms. May we never forget their sacrifices.
