🗣 "Not being able to speak is NOT the same as having nothing to say."
🤔 Keep in mind that aphasia is a language disorder, not a thinking disorder.
💁🏼♀️ People with aphasia KNOW what they want to say. They may, however, struggle to get the words out.
✅ Please be patient. Keep background noise minimized. And keep things simple.
🏥 There are over two million in the USA alone with aphasia. It is a very misunderstood invisible disability - usually caused by a stroke or a brain injury.

We can't say everyone with aphasia has the same struggles and challenges. Aphasia affects everyone differently depending on the size and location of the stroke or brain injury.
Do people with aphasia improve?
Yes! The brain has the ability to improve due to something called neuroplasticity. This means that the brain is able to rewire itself to be able to communicate again. Rewiring the brain, however takes determination, motivation and persistence.
