Meet Weichen!! Documentary photographer extraordinaire and official BIZ volunteer photographer. Weichen and her husband Lucas arrived in Brandon from China a month ago and have already fallen in love with our city and downtown. In addition to documenting the BIZ she is working on an amazing photography project called "We Are Brandon". In Weichen's words “I hope everyone realizes that defining a city depends on its people. That’s why I continually seek out interesting individuals in Brandon to document their stories. Every person’s experiences and stories continuously shape and enrich the city’s landscape. Traits such as dedication, vitality, enthusiasm, relaxation, positivity, and friendliness collectively contribute to the diversity and charm of the community we live in.”

We know we can't keep her amazing skills and heartwarming smile all to ourselves in the downtown (I've tried!), but we sure are lucky to have her both for the BIZ and to document phenomenal individuals of Brandon. Weichen Zhang

Continuing the spirit of gratitude today, a huge thank you to the organizations that are actually making the amazing, world famous Downtown Photo Contest possible!! Late night pizza and board rooms... these types of BIZ 'events' typically don't get to the social media, but I had to give a huge thank you to this handsome fella, John Jackson of Links Institute! As a BIZ member, John has stepped up to make sure we are organized and on track with a formalized Strategic Plan and all that other fancy stuff!! Like John, many of our members have offered their services pro-bono to get the BIZ established and running. Without this collaborative community effort, the BIZ wouldn't be where it is today.
