Sexual Assault Centre of Brant
If you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual assault, we can help. All services are free and confidential.
Services for survivors of child sexual abuse, in**st and adult sexual assault in a safe, comfortable, non-judgemental environment. We offer a 24 hour crisis and support line for survivors (all genders) of sexual violence, as well as friends and family members of survivors. We also offer counselling for women ages 14 and over in a supportive, safe environment as well as in all Brant County highscho
There are events planned across Canada today, opposing the teaching of 2SLGBTQIA+ content in schools.
SAC Brant whole-heartedly believes in the right to a complete and fulsome education for all students and this includes teaching content that is accurate and representative of 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences.
Trans people exist! Q***r people exist! We always have and we always will, and we deserve to feel safe and seen in all community spaces.

Lynnsie’s Run is Cancelled...
We have made the tough decision to cancel Lynnsie’s run this year. SAC Brant is run by a small team, and while many non-profit organizations have someone in a dedicated fundraising role, we do not. Our fundraising efforts fall on the shoulders of a volunteer board of directors and on staff members who are already working full time as counsellors, and community builders, and we are tired.
SAC Brant saw a 500% increase in service requests over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have worked above and beyond our maximum capacity for the last three years to support our community.
We’re going to take a moment to catch our breath, and we’ll have more information in the coming months about the future of Lynnsie’s Run.
We really appreciate everyone who has been out training and collecting donations for this year’s event, and we hope you’ll consider leaving your donation with us. We rely heavily on your donations, and with them we’ve been able to offer free counselling, community education and a 24-hour crisis and support line for almost 30 years!
If you have any questions about our decision to cancel Lynnsie’s Run 2023, please be in touch with [email protected].

We are very excited to introduce our newest addition to the SAC Brant staff team! You might recognize them; Mabe is also part of our amazing crisis line team. Mabe is joining our staff as a placement student, training to become an Expressive Arts Therapist!
Expressive Arts Therapy…
Is intermodal meaning all the modalities of the senses may be involved and all the artistic disciplines can be drawn upon - music, dance, drama, visual art, writing, play, movement, vocal expression, sound-making, etc.
Is for everyone and anyone, you do not have to be an artist or have any artistic ability
Is a way of using the arts to help with a variety of challenges
Can be applied to a broad range of settings and contexts with a variety of people
Can assist with challenges related to traumas, relationships, and/or transitions
Assumes everyone has the capacity to respond creatively to situations
Encourages imagination
Can assist to find resources we did not know we had
Can find possible solutions that were previously hidden from us
Is an activity that involves the senses and emotions
Allows us to actively engage in artistic practices that give us a bodily and emotional relationship to what we are going through
Sets challenges within the arts that people can meet so that people can gain a sense of the abilities they have that can be used to solve their problems in daily life
Sensitizes people to the materials they are using and helps them to engage creatively in whatever medium they choose
Emphasizes on collaboration
Stay tuned for some fun expressive art programs coming your way!
Do better. Age, health condition, and the fact that the girl was ‘unrelated’ are NOT AN EXCUSE TO ASSAULT SOMEONE. There is no excuse for sexual violence and the language we use to talk about it matters. Our friends at worked hard to create a resource to help folks in media to use the right words. We encourage the Brantford Expositor to check it out.

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
At SAC Brant we want to bring focus and pay respect to those who are no longer with us and those who continue to survive and heal from the horrific tragedies of residential schools and ongoing colonial practices.
We MUST acknowledge the truth of our history and the continued ongoing violence against Indigenous communities. We MUST stand in solidarity in the fight for justice and healing for Indigenous communities who have suffered long and hard to be heard and seen.
We encourage all folks to reflect on their relationship with this land.
Do you know who it belongs to? Do you know how it was taken? Do you know how the land continues to be exploited? Do you know how many indigenous bodies are still missing and murdered? Do you know the benefits you get from a country and systems that was built on genocide?
There is no reconciliation until we get to the root of how it all started and make honest reflections about what part we play in this fight for justice.
what a beautiful night 🌗
thank you to all of the beautiful folks who turned up for 2022’s iteration of Take Back the Night in Brantford. We’re still floating on the awesome energy of love, collaboration, and kindness. Love your community, land back, take back the night ✨
After a 2 year hiatus, TAKE BACK THE NIGHT (TBTN) is back on September 15, 2022 from 7pm-9pm(ish). This year we’ll be gathering for a community trail walk, and will be meeting to commence our walk/wheel/stroll in the parking lot on the corner of Church St & Grand River Ave.
This year we will be using TBTN as a space to talk about decolonial futures, and Indigenous land sovereignty, and to collectively engage in what it means to imagine a community free from sexual and gender-based violence.
We cannot wait to finally gather again, in rage & radical imagination! Bring light, lanterns, signs, noise makers, and all your pals 😎
What’s Take Back the Night (TBTN)?
TBTN is a worldwide demonstration against gendered and sexual violence in our communities. Schemed up in the 1970s, each year folks gather together and rally in an effort to assert the need for a safer collective experience in the streets of our cities. 🐢🌲✨
If you weren’t able to come out to our Take Back the Night Pre-event, stay tuned for details of the main event. The Sexual Assault Centre of Brant’s Take Back the Trails will be Thursday September 15th. Time and location to come. Check out this article that covered some highlights of the pre-event!
