May is cystic fibrosis awareness month! My wife and I learned our daughter was going to be born with cystic fibrosis while she was in utero. Twice a day, everyday since she was born we have done nebulizer treatments. The nebulizer/mask treatments lasts for 30 minutes and is then followed by a 15 minute physio treatment. That's 90 minutes lost everyday to treatments.
What could you accomplish with an extra 90 minutes everyday?

More great news!
And the great news just keeps on coming today! The Pan Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) announced today that they have agreed on a negotiated price for Orkambi and Kalydeco for all Health Canada approved mutations.
It was also announced that pending Health Canada approval, which has now been given, and completion of the Health Technology Assessments (HTA), Trikafta could be added to the pCPA’s letter of intent.
We still need to get the provinces to agree to add these drugs to their health plans. But these are two huge milestones that you, our small but mighty CF community, fought long and hard for. Please take a moment to celebrate. You have earned it!

One step closer.
We are very pleased to share the news that Health Canada has approved Trikafta for sale in Canada. Today’s announcement means that doctors can now prescribe Trikafta for people aged 12 and up with cystic fibrosis and at least one F508del mutation.
Our work is not yet done. We turn to the provinces next, as before the drug is accessible to those who need it, public or private insurers need to agree to pay for it.
Together, we have fought long and hard for this moment. We thank everyone involved in getting this transformative drug approved. Let us know how you are feeling in the comments below.

Heroes for CF 2020
Heroes for Cystic Fibrosis is a weekend of table top role-playing to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. The event was created by Jeremy and Tonya Hall, in an attempt to raise awareness and funding for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. To date the annual event has raised more than $20,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Our next event will be held on May 2nd and 3rd, 2020 at T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre (16 Morrell Street, Brantford Ontario).
DAY 1: A massive multi-player, multi-table interactive Dungeons & Dragons, 12 hour event. Each player raises money by collecting pledges for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Players are rewarded for their fundraising efforts by earning in game rewards to bolster their characters.
DAY 2: An open day of gaming. With a plethora of games offered: Call of Cthulhu, Pathfinder, Starfinder, Vampire the Masquerade, Dungeon Crawl Classics and D&D to name a few.
Our founders Jeremy and Tonya’s daughter Avril, has Cystic Fibrosis (CF). She was born with many complications because of CF and spent the first 8 months of her life in McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic terminal condition, but more and more children are living into adulthood, thanks to advances in research. The money we raise supports research into technologies and therapies to extend and better people’s lives.
