So I’m not a massive fan of super modern applications because I find it can lack warmth and character and I’m kind of a big fan of both those qualities. However, once and a while we do sneak in a modern project that can feel refreshing and beautiful in its simplicity. This is a shot from our Cedar Springs project in Burlington. It’s giving bold. It’s giving let’s make a statement. And you know what? We are here for it. Let us know what you think! Could you see yourself strolling into a bathroom like this in the morning? I’m curious to hear from anyone who’s worked with an interior designer before. What was your experience like? What was your favourite and least favourite part about the experience? Would you use the same designer again in the future or try a different one in hopes to have a smoother experience? Was the process and end product what you thought it would be? Interested to know how it’s going out there and in what way other interior/exterior designers are bringing value to this market.

Well hi there and welcome to Hilsden Design Co! There’s been a few new followers recently so I want to give a sincere thank you for following along!! I’m Ashleigh, founder and principal designer. We have had a busy year so far filled with fun new projects big and small. As well as exciting new connections with contractors and builders. We are always looking to grow and scale so every time we get the chance to collaborate with other companies in the field we are thrilled to do so. Happy Friday to you all. Incorporating pieces with history and giving them new life inside an updated modern space with thoughtful consideration and intent creates a kind of magic that you can’t always acquire with other design styles. Can somebody tell me where the time goes? Posting a shot from our Maple Grove project that we completed going on 2 years ago now. This client was looking for us to inject elegant upgrades to their main living space. With that we decided to add some ceiling and wall moulding details as you see here. The coffered ceiling adds depth and visual interest. Because we had 10’ ceilings to work with we were able to add that design element. We added similar interest to the dining room wall. We created a custom marble fireplace mantle which is also backlit at the touch of a button (not seen here but hope to post that soon). Then we reconfigured the furniture layout, added a beautiful modern rug, two leather Restoration Hardware armchairs, a solid marble drink stand, relocated their modern artwork and created a custom cabinet with hideaway pocket doors for their expensive glassware that matches their current kitchen. And let me tell you, it’s an even more impactful experience when you’re in the space. They were thrilled with the end result. :) Not seen here is another custom cabinet we added to the kitchen space. Will show in another post.

Well hello there! After a longgg hiatus, we’re going to be sharing our Design Tip Tuesday segment again on a more regular basis. Sometimes certain elements of what we do have to take a back seat for a while so that others can take the front. This design gig is no joke I tell ya! With that said, I am passionate about sharing tips and bringing some more value to this page for anyone that wants to know more about all things design. So, today we were inspired to share the idea of blending styles, starting with the blending of boho and coastal. These are styles that are actually closely related in a lot of ways already but when you blend the two with intention you can really come up with a beautiful vibe for a space. (I’m actually giving my personal home a refresh and implementing this concept for myself). I hope to share some pictures from that soon.

Today we are sharing some design tips on how to blend Boho & Coastal Styles 🌊🌿

This is a modern bistro styled kitchen we did recently in Burlington. So happy with how the two tone stained brown and black maple wood cabinetry came together here. We played around a lot with where to place dark and light and ended up with what we feel is a very balanced and grounded look. The skinny shaker doors and matte black finished countertops with waterfall edge give it a modern feel but overall wanted to keep a classy and elegant design aesthetic without feeling cold or too simplistic. Will be sharing more fun aspects of this kitchen later on! Let us know what you think!

Welcome to our First Road full main floor renovation. We worked closely and built a wonderful relationship with this clients contractor they had previously selected to bring this easy going coastal design to life. Swipe left to see the kitchen part of the project go from complete to concept phase to demo phase.

This sweet and enchanting little girls room was so much fun to put together. From the sparkle sheer curtains, to the spindled bed frame and cutely shaped pillows, our clients daughter was thrilled to come home to her exciting new “big girl room”. When we get the chance to play with themed spaces it’s always so fun and a chance to be creative and playful. Thank you for having some of the cutest furniture and decor to select. Here’s another shot from our Barley Lane Project in Ancaster. We injected big wow factor into this dining area. It features modern storage, soft comfortable seating, a unique eye catching chandelier, and stunning oversized art. In another photo we’ll share a closer shot to showcase the wonderful complimentary textures going on within the art and table. Once again, for the win with most of the selections coming from them. So pleased with how this space came together. What part of this dining space is your favourite?? Would love to hear your comments below.

Finally getting some shots of this project we did a while ago. We transformed this living room space from an awkward layout and lack of style to a functional, warm and inviting place to be. It was fun to play with subtle patterns, shapes and colours that compliment each other. The faux olive tree from could be easily mistaken for real and really adds a wonderful natural and grounding element to the space. The media console, also from Crate and Barrel is such a beautiful showpiece in here as well. We decorated many rooms in this townhome in Ancaster. Stay tuned for some more photos to come. 🌿

We’ve had the pleasure of designing several children’s rooms now and every time we do I do appreciate the opportunity to be playful and light hearted in our design approach. While doing so we also ensure we listen whole heartedly to our clients when they speak about what their child and what they like and love. With that we put together a theme that coordinates colours, textures, form and function. I find this space to be whimsical and feminine. I’m also just so in love with the adorable canopy and the wall decal application here as opposed to wallpaper. It ended up being the perfect “big girl room” for their daughter. It’s kind of hard to tell in this photo but this is Heather Gray making another appearance. Our client has told us how much she absolutely loves this colour and how calming it makes her feel while in her home office working all day. Also that this upscale and sophisticated new office space of hers is a place she now loves to be and work. We love to hear that kind of feedback.

So happy with how this pretty built in/fireplace wall application turned out. We did a classic shiplap feature wall, added a rustic beam mantle, implemented custom built in cabinetry and inserted a new linear electric fireplace which provides a warm glowing element to the space. The client was such a pleasure to work with and they were thrilled with the outcome. Thank you again for choosing us
