Colombian Horizon Coffee wants to make a change! Our mission is to:

🤝 empower coffee farmers in the province of Huila, Colombia to export their coffees directly to Canada

❌ cut out intermediaries and therefore provide them with the opportunity to profit from their coffee more than ever before!

💸 give coffee farmers a chance at significantly improving the infrastructure of their farms, yearly crop output and essentially their lifestyles.

Wow! We are super excited for Luis as coffee from his Villa Betulia farm has been nominated twice in the Top Roast competition for The Best Roasted Coffees in Colombia! Considering the quality of coffee that is produced all throughout Colombia, this is a big achievement - to no surprise as his coffee is amazing!

We feel very fortunate to be the bridge between Luis’ coffee and Canadians in and the rest of Western Canada! We currently carry two of Luis’ coffees, check them out now in our Instagram Shop and get some of the best coffee available in the market!

For those outside the local delivery area and require shipping, select more than 1 or 2 bags of coffee to reduce the delivery cost per bag :)

Prior to exporting coffee from Colombia, each of our coffees is processed and roasted in small batches to do what is called Coffee Cupping (Tasting).

During the Coffee Cupping process, the coffee variety is rated based on different categories such as aroma, body, flavour, acidity and balance. The ratings in these categories then determine the overall Cupping score of the batch of coffee, indicating the quality of the coffee.

The Coffee Cupping score ranges from 0 to 100 points. Only coffees scoring 80 points or higher can be considered Specialty Coffee. At we only import coffees that are rated 84 points or higher!

For comparison, commercial grade coffee sold at most grocery stores only score from 55 to 80 points.

In these photos, Wilson (a coffee producer who we purchase coffee from directly) has processed and roasted a small batch of the Bourbon Pointue and Castilla coffee varieties to determine their Cupping score to ensure they meet requirements for exporting.
