Happy weekend! Some great reminders especially during this time of transition.
How are you doing after the first couple of days or as you prepare for next week’s return to school? I’ve had a rollercoaster of emotions landing on gratitude today as it feels like our girls are set up for a good year. But oh the many points of anxiety and worry before getting here as we’ve had very different experiences over the years. I can feel a big much needed release coming. Heading to tomorrow night with the girls and a dear friend and know I’ll get to release it all there. In the meantime listening to Tennille Townes, taking deep breaths, shaking out my shoulders, getting outside and resting. Take care everyone- this can be an intense time of year! ☺️
Stampede Reflections… Yesterday was a lot of fun! We took a few breaks from the sun and noise in the Big 4 Building’s basement - had our lunch, used clean washrooms and re-set. Will definitely do this again another year. One thing I wished I had taken along to the Chucks, Indigenous Riders’ Relay Races and the Grandstand Show was earplugs. We were right under a speaker and it was quite loud for one kiddo. Hope you have fun down at the grounds too!
Forced few minutes of quiet and slowing down after locking my wallet and keys in the car. Starbucks in the same parking lot and points on my app for the win! Not a terrible way to wait. Hope your long weekend is starting off ok. 😎
It really starts here and is this simple.
Feel like my family is still in recovery mode after a very busy spring and yesterday had a random migraine which is unusual for me. Forced rest it is and some hang out time with my youngest who loves some quiet reading time. I have a few books on the go ☺️ which is very much my style but getting through them bit by bit. Wishing you a lovely Sunday also 😎.
Had an date with one of my kids today and was excited to pick up Erica Djossa’s new book . Fun to support a Canadian author and therapist in the space.
Shoutout to Dr. Kari and Brandy for their kindness and innovative care of our kiddo today. They’ve been looking after our kids’ dental needs since this sweet pic was taken and at one point the girls loved it there so much they wanted to go visit between appointments. However since an anaphylactic incident a few years back (not dental-related) freezing for fillings for this kiddo have been off the charts anxiety-provoking as it feels too similar to anaphylactic symptoms. Today we tried a new approach and I couldn’t be more grateful to these fabulous women and even more proud of our daughter for facing her fears. Filling done ✅ Now we can get to the weekend. 😅
Here’s a throwback picture of my kids 🥰. Easter’s never perfect but we always take this same pic - so fun to look back especially as these traditions are changing with having older kids now. Hope your day is good enough - that’s what we’re aiming for over here 🐣
Happy Easter 🐣 Kids getting to the end of this tradition but we still had fun. Definitely remember years where there were tears and lots of frustration - now just a lot of silliness. It’s tough that by the time kids have the fine motor skills and emotional regulation to have fun with egg decorating, they’re not that into it anymore.
A good read so far - plainly written and so honouring of women’s experiences. Also enjoying this quiet time reading with one of my kiddo’s who loves to hang out when mom keeps the talking to a minimum 😬. Happy Sunday everyone ❤️
Catching up on PD this morning with monthly workshop. Always some good nuggets!
Absolutely this along with giving myself grace and forgiveness after the messiest of moments. So much apart of my own parenting journey and the therapeutic conversations I have with moms everyday 🥰 Original post
Wishing you an afternoon nap in the sun kinda day 😍
It’s a busy week for our family with two birthdays sandwiching Valentines ❤️ My mom and I have a complicated relationship like so many mothers/daughters and I’m sure at times it’s no fun having a daughter whose a therapist. But one of the things I appreciate most about her is that she never misses sending a card that’s always on time for all the occasions ❤️ It’s such a kind and thoughtful way she shows her love 🥰.
Taking a mental health day - a morning with the fabulous and a lunch date with myself . Trying to practice what I preach ❤️.
Always last minute with my ‘homework’ for EMDR group supervision - so grateful for my colleagues and Michelle Gay’s kind and gentle leadership and for working through this amazing resource with us.
