Hey there all! Long time no chat!!
It’s been a crazy whirlwind year, since we got out of the restaurant business. We have definitely missed seeing all your faces, and sharing all your stories, but we can now see you face to face again, down at Crossroads Market in Calgary! You can find us in between Old Munich, and PB and J YYC. The stall we are operating out of is called Fresh in the City, and we offer a huge selection of ready made sandwiches and salads, along with our carrot cake! We are currently baking 7 days a week here, to try and keep up with your insatiable demands for our carrot cakes, but there are just not enough hours in each day! Since opening at the market, and largely by requests, we have added to our carrot cake varieties, to now include our original with walnuts, OG with walnuts and raisins, and OG with just raisins. Currently we are only selling our 10 oz pieces, however, in the not too distant future, we will offer 1/4 pan, (9x13), 1/2 pan, (18x13), and multi-layered 9” round cakes to order! They will be available any way you like your carrot cake!

Well folks, a lot has happened in the last 24 hours, including the sale of the restaurant. We will no longer be involved in the front end business, effective immediately. We have enjoyed meeting each and every one of you over the last 3 years, and hopefully that feeling is mutual! This page will be changing its name to “The Carrot Cake Company”, and we hope you will all stick around and follow our progression in expanding that venture. We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your patronage over the last 3 years, and are sorry for the little time we have had to say goodbye.
We will update you when we know more about the new owners, and their plans for Country Cousins.

Tomorrow is just around the corner, and that means it’s nearly time for our Saturday Buffet! We will be offering our Pasta buffet tomorrow from 4-7, including fettuccine, spaghetti, and penne rigate. Smother those with your choice of Cajun Chicken, Alfredo, or red meat sauce! Our Caesar salad, and garlic toast are also included in the $20 price point.

Every week we are asked if we have mashed potatoes, and we try to let everyone down as easy as we can with an unfortunate “no”…. Those days are now behind us, and we have added our all new Rustic Mashed Potatoes to our side options! They are made to order, with whole red creamer potatoes, steak spice, butter, and whipping cream. All the things you need for a great mashed potato!

We are heading back to Mexico for our buffet this Saturday, March 11, from 4-7! Our Street corn soup will be making a return, by popular demand, along with Pico de Gallo, refried beans, guacamole, chicken fajitas, and beef and chicken tacos! Everything will be available with gluten-free options, and this is one of our top three buffets so far, so plan to get here early!

This Saturday, March 4th, we are swinging for the fences, and offering up our favourite smoked meat and barbecue favourites! Smoked Brisket, smoked pork ribs, jalapeño hot dog burnt ends, chili, Texas Slaw, potato salad, Mac and cheese, and baked beans!!!!

Hey there folks! I’m WAY late on posting up our buffet for tomorrow, Saturday February 25, from 4-7, because I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to pull it off. But as of right now, we will be good to go, and offer you some of our family favourites! We are talking Asian food! This is the one genre of food that our family can all agree on. Korean, especially!
We will be making the majority of the menu from scratch, and will be offering the following on the Buffet:
Won Ton Soup
Asian Salad
Egg Rolls (vegetarian) (limited numbers)
Folded Steam Buns ( Bao) both pork belly, and Korean Fried Chicken.
Pan fried dumplings (chicken and pork)

Making up test recipes today at home on a lazy Sunday. This is a delicious Won Ton Soup, that will make its way into an Asian themed buffet in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
We are doing PASTA for our buffet lineup this Saturday, February 11 from 4-7. We will be offering spaghetti, fettuccine, and rigatoni, as well as GF spaghetti. Our sauces will include Alfredo, our red meat sauce, and a creamy Cajun Chicken. Sides will include both Texas garlic toast, and Caesar salad.
Pricing will be $20/person, and kids under 10/$10. (1 plate)
I have chosen pictures that will represent our offerings as closely as possible, but remember, you are the ones putting it on your plate, so if it doesn’t look like the pictures….

If you haven’t tried our brisket, you have been missing out! One of my biggest problems with barbeque places, is that most of them have an extremely inconsistent brisket. One day it’s the greatest brisket you ever had, and the next day you might as well have eaten the bottom of your shoe… we pride ourselves on giving you a consistent product every time you have one of our sandwiches, or have it beside your eggs for breakfast. FYI- Our brisket sandwiches are the most popular item on the menu, and have consistently been in the top 3 since we opened. All I can say is, do yourself a favour and come try our brisket!
