Baby Tyson was only 12 weeks old when his parents learned he had cancer. In an instant, their world turned upside down as Tyson was admitted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital to begin treatment. His best chance for survival would be a bone marrow transplant (BMT).

Thankfully, support from our generous community has made our hospital a world leader in curing children using BMTs.

When Henry was 10, he needed multiple surgeries on his foot, leg, hips and pelvis. He had months to prepare, knowing the physical recovery would be exhausting. What he didn't know at the time was that his greatest journey was still ahead. His mental health journey.

Henry is 17 now and a passionate advocate for kids as a member of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation Youth Council and the Child and Youth Advisory Council that helped inform the look and feel of The Summit, a vital mental health resource for young people in our community that was made possible by donors.

"My mental health journey is ongoing. Every day I have to put in the work but I no longer have to sit with sadness and navigate the silence alone."

Mental health is health, period. Today and every day.

Over the weekend, we got a chance to celebrate all the cool, creative kids who stepped up to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital last year.

From bike-a-thons, the Junior Golf Classic, the Hockey Kids Helping Kids campaign, to dance-offs, birthday parties, bake sales and sticker campaigns, these young fundraisers are proof positive that not all heroes wear capes.

Together, they raised an INCREDIBLE $477,000(!!!), all so hospital experts can continue to provide the best care possible for kids and families. ❤️❤️❤️

Together, we made massive strides to help children and teens who need mental health resources and programs in our community, raising more than $340,000 for important services and vital research.
