Call for towels!
At Artfelt Studio, we use a lot of towels. A LOT OF towels! On a typical day, we can use 70-80 hand towels. These get washed each night and used again, and again, and again. Which eventually wears them out!
So, if you have any bath-sized towels or hands towels that are no longer needed in your household, but still have some life left in them - we will cheerfully take them off your hands! Please message us!

Glorious autumn trees on this chillly winter-like day!
Our wonderful, engaging instructor, Kerry, taught Kindergarten students as they created this colourful wool art.
A grand time was had by all!

It's been one heck of a week! As soon as we offered the Early Bird discount, my computer died. Nada! Kaput! My dear nephew, Andrew, figured out it needs a new power thing (he knows the real name of this) and it'll be here in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I'm trying to keep up with emails and booking requests using my phone. This is a challenge for me, to say the least. So. The Good News is we are extending our early booking discount! Fantastic day at Custom Woolen Mills for Alberta Open Farm Days! I stopped counting how many people, old and young, stopped by to make a wet felted keyfob. Such an engaging day, talking about wool wool wool and introducing people to wet felting. Scroll through the pics to see my erstwhile cat helper, G-Bert!!

Road trip! (short one!) Join me today at Custom Woolen Mills for a great family event. Alberta Open Farm Days is a brilliant, province-wide open house. You can bop from place to place and chat with fascinating people who are following their passion. You'll find me at the mill offering hands-on felting make-and-take demonstrations. Red Deer Summer Series.
What are the secrets to making felt from wool? Join this class and find out! In this class I create a comfortable, relaxed environment where you can ask questions and build your felting knowledge. We will take things step-by-step and explore what makes wool felt and how to manipulate it to create both flat and 3D felted art. You will start with the basics and improve your technique and skill as the week progresses. The focus of this course is on learning a new process and experimenting with wool. We’ll discuss different breeds of sheep and their unique wool properties and explore adding silk, bamboo, wool curls and other fibres to the wool. Students will make a collection of pieces highlighting the unique, natural properties of wool. Registration link in bio.

ArtFelt Studio is offering a wool discovery session at the April 18th PD Day! Our focus will be on process over product. Come and see what wool can do and use our supplies to create a sampler. Session is called 'Felting - Creative Curiosity' . Sign up through your CBE event registration system. CBE teachers only.

Classroom Felting Kits come with everything you need for success. From all the wool sorted into individual bags for each student to step-by-step video instructions to the clips for hanging the art to the dish soap - we've got it covered!⁠

It's been a while since I've introduced myself.
Hi, I'm Leah Cathleen. I'm a Canadian fibre artist and owner of ArtFelt Studio. I've taught art for over 20 years. When I started ArtFelt Studio 12 years ago, I had no idea it would grow into this amazing business. I just wanted to teach felting. And, boy, I have taught felting!
Over 17,000 kids know what wool is, where it comes from and how they can create a piece of art with wool. That's very gratifying. ArtFelt Studio teaches felting in schools and offers classroom kits with videos for teachers to teach felting to their students. We ship all over Canada.
Leighton Art Centre, Olds College Fibre week, Red Deer College Summer Series are a few of the places I teach adult workshops.
On a personal note, I'm a mom and a grandmother - the 10th of 12 children - grew up in Calgary - love camping, road trips, volunteering, felting. My favourite movie is Christopher Robin.

Have you heard the story of our ArtFelt Studio logo?
When my daughter was young she said to me "Mom, I can't get to sleep". I suggested she count sheep. Fast forward a few weeks and I find this handmade envelope under her pillow. When I ask her what it is she looks at me quizzically. "It's sheep. There are 10." She always took things so literally. I treasure these.
When we were creating our logo, I insisted we use one of these darling sheep. They warm my heart every time I see them.
