Bridgeland Riverside Community Association
Bridgeland-Riverside is an inner-city community located on the north side of the Bow River just northeast of downtown Calgary, Alberta.
This is the official page of the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association. The community boundaries are defined by a commercial development along Edmonton Trail NE on its western edge, a 20 meter escarpment to the north, Tom Campbell's Hill to the east and the Bow River and Memorial Drive NE to the south.
It’s Lemonade Day 🍋. Stop by the community hall and say hi to Grey and Lucas, they will be there until 4pm.
Their lemonade and cookies are the best in town!

And remember - our need and rely on our continued support with construction impacts to their parking, road closures etc. so please give some extra time, patience but most of all ❤️ for our Bridgeland businesses impacted by the construction - your support goes a long way!
Oh and before we forget - stay cool, neighbours! 🥰❤️

We have received an update from Calgary Housing regarding Bridgeland Place.
Calgary Housing is excited to share details about the Bridgeland Place Redevelopment project at 736 McDougall Court N.E. When completed approximately 195 new affordable residences will be available in Bridgeland. Redevelopment work is beginning this summer.
This project will revitalize aging housing from 1971, transitioning it into modern, affordable dwellings that prioritize environmental sustainability and community well-being.
Beginning in July 2024 and lasting approximately a year, the interior of the building will be completely stripped down to the concrete. While this work is undertaken, the exterior envelope of the building will remain in place.
We do not anticipate the project will have a major impact on the community. The site has a large parking lot that will provide a staging area and parking for contractors. There will be some construction vehicle traffic through the neighborhood as vehicles exit and enter the site.
Calgary Housing is committed to following City Bylaws and all noise will be kept to sociable hours in compliance with the relevant bylaws.
If you or a resident have questions about the project, please contact: [email protected]

Hello neighbours, we are still looking for a few more volunteers to help with our casino fundraiser next week. With summer vacation and Stampede, we are having difficulty filling all the shifts, so we appreciate anyone and everyone who can give us a hand.
This is a great way to get to know your neighbours while supporting the community. There is always a great group of people who make it fun. Lunch or dinner is provided, along with lots of drinks and snacks. No experience is necessary.
Here is a link to the Sign up Genius that shows the available shifts.
Happening today in Bridgeland! Safe Families is having their fundraising cookie sale at the hall today, supported by several Calgary bakeries. And there will be music in La Piazza this afternoon.
Roads around the community hall and 1st ave are busy with construction, so it’s best to visit on bike or foot.
Bridgeland-Riverside Planning Committee wants to let you know about a new land use change happening along 4th Street NE. The change will allow a 24 storey (80 metres) building to be built at the site where the Spicy Hut and Shawarma Avenue restaurants are currently located. The current maximum allowed height is 10 storeys (34 metres).

Construction update #3
There will be some upcoming ENMAX work as part of the Bridgeland Main Streets project, located along 1 Avenue Between 4 Street to 6 Street N.E. Please refer to the below notice for more information.
Currently, this work is anticipated to commence in July 2024, and last approximately 8 weeks. ENMAX has already begun sharing notices and having conversations with affected businesses and properties in advance of this work.
Our City project team and ENMAX are working closely together to coordinate construction activities along 1 Avenue N.E. to ensure that we complete improvements efficiently and safely while mitigating day-to-day impacts as much as possible.
Construction update #2
4th Avenue Flyover reopening to two lanes for Stampede
Originally built in 1982, Calgary’s longest bridge structure, the 4th Avenue Flyover needs major repairs and improvements. It has been serving motorists accessing Downtown Calgary daily, for 42 years. As one of the main access points to downtown, the familiar flyover typically carries two lanes of traffic to 3rd Street S.E., but has been reduced to a single lane since construction began this Spring.
We have good news for Cow-garians ahead of Stampede—the flyover will be restored to two lanes for the duration of the Stampede from July 5-14 to reduce congestion and improve mobility as we welcome thousands of visitors to Calgary.
The bridge will fully close overnight July 3-4 and July 16-17 from 9 PM to 5 AM to transition it from one to two lanes, and back again. Please follow detour signage if you are travelling through the area during the closure, for your safety and that of construction crews. The bridge remains a construction zone, so drivers should expect uneven pavement and narrow lanes.
For more information about the project or to contact the project team, please visit calgary.ca/4AveFlyoverRehab. The bridge is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2025.
We have three construction updates from the City to share with you today. Here is the first one.
Bridgeland Main Streets
We want to share some updates with you about upcoming work as part of the Bridgeland Main Streets project:
We are pleased to share that crews are finishing construction on 1 Avenue between 9A Street to 11 Street N.E., with targeted completion by the end of June.
Tentatively starting on June 23, the second stage of construction will kick-off on the south side of 1 Avenue N.E. between 8A to 9A Streets N.E., with work expected to last 2 months. Please refer to the attached notice for more details regarding construction staging, parking, and timelines.
Minor sidewalk reconstruction along 2 Avenue at intersections between 6 Street to 10 Street N.E. will continue concurrently and will last throughout the year, with minimal impacts to traffic access throughout the community.
Pedestrian access and businesses will be always maintained during the road closures. Vehicle parking and access around the area will be affected temporarily by some weekend activities, and we will work closely with businesses to ensure that we accommodate their needs and concerns as much as possible.
Please also see an attached temporary parking changes notice for more information about planned parking changes in support of businesses in the area during construction.
We will also share notice of any upcoming weekend construction closures with directly affected businesses and residents. As always, we will regularly share updates on our website, and if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at [email protected].
Bridgeland Main Street City-wide indoor and outdoor water restrictions are in place. A fire ban is in effect. The boil water advisory has been lifted.
Huge shout out to Bridgeland entrepreneurs using river water to give our new sod a much needed drink. Give Erik and Reilly a call if you need some garden and lawn care during the water restrictions.

Bridgeland-Riverside Planning Committee is seeking comments on the proposal to open a McDonald's take out-only restaurant. It will be located at the former site of the Starbucks on the NW corner of Edmonton Trail and Memorial Drive.
For your information, the ability to turn into the property from northbound Edmonton Trail will be closed off, leaving only access to the alleyway.
You may submit your comments to the City via the DMAP link: https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/?find=DP2024-03423 . Or can send your comments directly to the file manager [email protected] and please cc [email protected].

Please join us for an "out of the box" exploration of community, crime, and the homeless situation in Bridgeland-Riverside.
BRCA, in partnership with The Calgary Drop-In Centre, will be brainstorming approaches to addressing these issues outside standard responses like adding more police, spending more government money, or building more housing units. Is there a Community solution? Something we can do in Bridgeland-Riverside that will help improve conditions even if more money, police, or housing units don't appear? Can we find it? We might. Your idea may be the answer.
Please explore the possibilities with us at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30), this Thursday, June 6 at the BRCA Community Hall
Calgary Police Service District 3 Mobile Community Engagement Team will be out tomorrow in La Piazza (by Starbucks) from 11am - 1pm.
