A decade ago and I still feel the same way about the opportunity to race for Canada and the men I raced with.

TBT 10 years ago today:

It's the first day of June. A sunny Saturday and I am in a training centre. I couldn't be happier! I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to do what I get to do. I have the opportunity to represent my country in the greatest sporting event on this planet. This is an opportunity I refuse to squander. I will rise and grind everyday to ensure that when February comes I will stand at the top of the start block and know in my heart I am ready! "To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield!" Not just for myself. For the 3 other men on my team who have not squandered their opportunities to be in Russia. This is a team sport and when these teams are named we will become family. A family that is all trying to accomplish the same goal. Win. Along this journey our family will have ups and downs, like every other family. The ups will fill us with confidence and the downs will bring us closer together and put us back on the right path. As Pink Floyd says. "Together we will stand. Divided we will fall". It's Saturday June 1st. I am in a training centre and I got better today. For myself, for my country and for my team.

This is a tough one…

I want my kids to grow up resourceful, and resilient, I want them using public transit and being independent.

My job is to guide and protect these little people.

Seeing open use of very illegal and dangerous substances m**h, crack, whatever on public transit - not the first time either - around kids frustrates the hell out of me, actually It enrages me.
In the same breath I understand everyone has a story and demons they battle, this individuals is worse than others. I’m conflicted. There are a lot of people that need help. This is Calgary. Is this Calgary??? We have seen open use explode since the pandemic, Stephen ave specifically. What are we doing to help? Help these people? Help keep our city vibrant and healthy? Help keep our kids safe?! How far away are we from a Calgary’s version of East Hastings - and please don’t try and convince me what they are doing in Van is making it better. It’s not. It’s a disaster.
