Starting today, August 1 2024, First Time Home Buyers are able to extend their amortization period to 30 years, up from 25 years on insured mortgages.

🏡 The policy applies just to first-time homebuyers purchasing newly built homes ONLY. Resale homes are currently not included.
🏡 It only applies to newly built homes priced less than 1 million.
🏡 The policy will decrease monthly mortgage payments but increase the total amount paid over the term of the mortgage.
🏡 Insured mortgage holders taking advantage of the 30-year amortization period will be required to pay an additional 0.2 percent premium.
