Today marks International Non-Binary People’s Day! At Porchlight we are committed to unlearning harmful binary narratives of gender and aim to co-create a safe space where services are gender affirming and the fluidity of gender is respected and celebrated.

The hard work in early recovery is really indescribable, the brain is struggling, the body is healing, routine and expectations, and emotions can look like scrambled wiring. The challenges of impulse and compulsion takes resilience and courage with a community of supports. We are thrilled to have Amanda share her 3 month milestone at Ancora.

Today is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day. About 9% of Canadian adults will experience PTSD during their life.
Our staff at are here to walk alongside those affected and are committed to raising awareness about how not all wounds are visible.

This week’s theme for National Indigenous History Month is Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ People. Throughout Canada, these individuals continue to go missing and are being murdered. We must call for justice and advocate for their safety, supporting plans for greater protections.
Once again, we enjoyed a great evening at rec night with Wanner Mennonite hosting. Special thanks for the leadership from Ian and Jenn this month. The heat couldn’t stop this crew from enjoying community together with a bbq, games and good laughs. These events help to rebuild confidence, by being part of a broader welcoming community. This week's theme is "environment, traditional knowledge and territory", so we thought it was appropriate to share our land acknowledgement.
Congratulations to our very own Kate McLachlan, winner of Cambridge Chamber of Commerce's June WOW Award presented by , earned for the incredible care she shows to clients at Porchlight every day.

Are you a student working towards a diploma or degree in a mental health and or addictions related field? Come work with Porchlight this summer as our student house support worker!
In this role you will provide daily support to the residents at our addiction recovery supportive housing homes. Your role will focus on day-to-day management of the home and ensure that the residents meet the commitments of their case plans.
