Planning on coming into town for Old Home Week this week? We hope you can stop by Blaze Pizza on University avenue to join us for the 100th Birthday celebration of 95.1 FM CFCY. This event will also be a fundraiser for the Autism Society of PEI with 20% of proceeds from 1:00-7:00pm being donated to our organization. There will be games, giveaways, cake and more. The Autism Society will also have treat-bags to give out to kids ahead of the Gold Cup parade- just in case a trip to the parade isn't on your families to do list!

Stop by and see Nick and Nathalie and bring along your friends, colleagues and family for their lunch or supper on Thursday!

Public Input for Inclusive Education Plan

The Province of Prince Edward Island is requesting input from the public on the Inclusive Education action plan . The deadline for submissions is July 31st. If you have comments or items to address after reviewing the draft please be sure to take this time and submit your information. Further details found below.

What are the key findings of the review?
The review notes that PEI’s public education needs a well-resourced and well-designed inclusive education system that will support all teachers and students. This will require updating our continuum of supports and services.

The continuum will accommodate people with diverse abilities and needs in various settings, such as education, workplaces, or communities, emphasizing that inclusivity is not a one-size-fits-all approach but rather a spectrum that accommodates the varying needs of individuals.

Recommendations focused on policy and process development and leadership in the following areas:

Establishing the Foundation for Inclusion
Develop and Provide Professional Learning & Support for Inclusion
Building Responsive Classroom Interventions & Supports for Inclusion
Targeted Interventions and Supports for Inclusion
Enhanced Specialized & External Supports for Inclusion
Who developed the Inclusive Education Action Plan?
The finalized action plan is expected to follow consultations in Fall 2024.

What are the next steps?
The public education system and general public are being asked to review the draft inclusive education action plan and submit comments to [email protected](link sends e-mail) by July 31, 2024.
