Is that still happening? The war in Ukraine is been going on for two and a half years now. Dave and Heidi Blundell were recently there, seeing all of it firsthand. Click the link at the end of this post to read more about the reality faced by the people on the ground in Ukraine. While we are not able to stop missiles or attacks, we can bring supplies to those affected by the war, and continue to encourage and show our care for them just by being with them.

At the bottom of the blog, there is a donate button. 100% of your donation will go directly to Ukraine Emergency Relief. Just select it from the drop down menu and enter the amount you would like to give.

We woke up in Peru with sunlight peeking through the walls, it was actually fairly chilly. A woman came in to invite us for coffee. Going out the rickety door, the view of the valley we had driven up the night before came into view. The narrow road winding up the mountains. They led us up to a little single room home, the same place we ate alpaca the night before. The smell of smoke filled our noses, as a lady stoked the fire to boil the water. In the corner of the room on the dirt floor, a bag started moving. Our partner let us know that it was a chicken for their supper that evening. The smell of coffee filled the room as the lady poured the coffee into our cups. We chatted, and talked about previous evenings church service.

Walking outside, sipping our coffee, we saw a group of people gathered around a device that sounded like an audiobook. Our partners, ATEK, had previously brought audio Bibles to their village. This allows those who can't read, mostly due to a lack of education as a result of their remote location, to listen to the Word of God.

Visit the link below to donate to ATEK PERU in order to further their mission of bringing the Word of God, study materials, and classes to remote villages in Peru. Like always, 100% of what you donate will go where you designate it!

Just click the link, and select "Peru: Operational Support" to donate:

The more people you meet, the fuller the picture of God you get.

Do you believe that? How have you seen God in people that are different from you?

Remember to embrace every encounter as an opportunity to see God more clearly.

“Since its beginnings in 2013 A Voice of Hope For Kenya seeks to improve the quality of life for impoverished widows and orphans in Kenya with our focus on creating lasting relationships. We seek to encourage our widowed ladies spiritually, physically and emotionally with the Word of God and facilitating opportunities for them to have better everyday lives.”
They strive to be the feet that show Christlike love and compassion to the needy widows and orphans and sharing a cup of water to the least of these; to be a voice of hope; to answer the cries of the hungry and helpless. To build relationships with their women, to encourage them in the Lord.

The Voice of Hope started their partnership in Kenya in 2013 and has send their teams to the local communities ever since. Voice of Hope currently has two groups engaged with one based in Chilliwack, BC and the other in St. Thomas, ON, and plans for further expansion!

Dick Westeringh established Westbow Construction in 1977 in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Dick’s team is not only a group of quality home builders but they are a team of caring professionals. That’s why it’s part of Westbow’s vision to give back to people less fortunate then ourselves. So what is the Westbow vision for giving back?

Westbow Construction Group Ltd. has been partnering with Hungry for Life to touch the lives of the people of Haiti, the most impoverished nation in the Western Hemisphere.

Their team has also partnered with Haiti Free School Project and is donating $500 from homes sold to the project. Every $500 sponsors a child’s education for a year! That means everytime you partner with them, you are helping build schools and educate underprivileged kids in Haiti.

A group of young adults from Alberta had a fantastic experience collaborating with our partners in the Dominican Republic. They took on construction projects, taught Bible lessons in local classrooms, and shared food baskets and prayer sessions with the community. Their strong work ethic and positive attitudes were a source of encouragement to the locals. This journey also provided an opportunity for personal growth, as they often stepped out of their comfort zones to navigate cross-cultural interactions.

These past two days, Fullwell Leadership has been facilitating Intercultural Competency Training with the Timotheos Foundation in Malawi using the IDI. The IDI, or Intercultural Development Inventory, is a tool that provides a quantitative value on how fluent one is and how one perceives themselves in intercultural relationships. It has been a very rewarding experience and an encouragement to see two cultures—one of the most direct, and the other one of the most indirect—working together.

Six team members from the Fraser Valley Group are traveling to the Ukraine to support the ongoing emergency relief efforts. They will meet with partners in the country who they have known for years in order to support and encourage them through prayer and spending time together. In addition they will be spending time with 50-60 parents of fallen soldiers as well as hosting a week of rest and spiritual retreat for social workers and then a week of the same for pastoral couples. The team plans to support these partners by providing a retreat and time of rest for them away from their daily lives. Follow their blog on our website to keep updated!

Hungry For Life's documentary, With Them, has just been released!

You can now watch it online via our website. Just visit www.hungryforlife.org/with-them

Thank you for all your support for the people of Ukraine as well as for Hungry For Life as we work there.

Why risk? Why go? With Them is a documentary that follows Hungry For Life's emergency relief efforts during two years of war, efforts made possible by a 20 year relationship built with our friends and partners in Ukraine. With Them is filled with stories of sorrow and hope, and we hope that you walk away realizing that sometimes just being with someone is enough.

You never know where God will take you when you follow his lead. He could lead you to Ukraine, visiting widows in craters that were their homes, or he could lead you next door, to someone who has been hurting for a long time due to any kind of life struggle.

Just remember that being 'with them' is never too little.

One of our values is people. And a way we are able to value people is to pray for them.

Elisa and her husband live in the Checacupe District in Peru. In 2018 they were both part of ATEK's leadership training, which also included family and marital courses. When Elisa told us her story, she overflowed with thanksgiving for ATEK bringing them knowledge and was so hungry to learn. She said she even almost shifted her wedding date just to be able to go to one of their courses!

Her husband is the pastor in the local church and also farms to keep food on the table. Their daughter goes to school in another village, which requires Elisa to go with her and stay the week due to the distance. This means 5 out of 7 days, Elisa and her husband are separated which is hard on their relationship and also difficult as they are hoping to grow their family. Also as a pastor's family, they are consistently caring for others but do not have anyone to care for them. They are feeling isolated and longing for more connection

Join us as we pray for them, and so many like them, internationally, and locally.
