Last November, the City Council of Cornwall passed an Interim Control Bylaw to address the issue of homelessness. With estimates ranging between 125 to 250 homeless individuals, the bylaw aims to pause the approval and development of new emergency shelters (with some exceptions) until proper planning can be established.

Yesterday was an incredible day at the St. Lawrence College Cornwall Campus as they welcomed the community to their AI Symposium. It was truly inspiring to see so many people from local businesses and volunteer organizations come together to engage in meaningful conversations about the future of AI, cybersecurity, and ethics.
The symposium kicked off in their beautiful (and thankfully air-conditioned) library, setting the perfect stage for a day full of insightful discussions and interactive workshops. The speakers were nothing short of amazing, sharing their expertise and sparking thought-provoking dialogues on how AI can be applied to various sectors while considering the ethical implications.
The energy in the room was palpable. Attendees networked, exchanged ideas, and explored the exciting possibilities that AI holds for the community. It was a reminder of the power of collaboration and the importance of staying informed about the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. Their participation and enthusiasm made it a day to remember for us here at The Seeker. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to harness the potential of AI for the betterment of the community.

"It's always consoling to know that today's Christmas gifts are tomorrow's garage sales". -Milton Berle
Imagine a sunny spring day, you are driving around town looking for Garage Sales or Estate sales that were listed on Social Media. You stop at a house, and see tables lined up with “Stuff & Things”. You glance at the objects and depart looking for the next sale.

How times have changed and how fast! From the time of my great grandfather to my father, not much changed, except for maybe the introduction of electricity and the possibility of leaving the farm to work in an industry. Cornwall, in fact, claims Thomas Edison wired the Cornwall Cotton Mills, or at least, that is what I am told.

We gather at Gleeson’s Lock at the canal’s west end just as the sun prepares to set. In the west, the sky glows in shades of purple, orange, and red as we light our candles. Protecting the flames from the breeze with our cupped hands, we shift to form a circle and reflect on the friends we have lost and have not had the opportunity to honour as a group.

Reading Ivan Labelle’s column got me to thinking when he talked about being 4 years old and watching a black and white TV. We had one of the first TVs in the area; my sister and I were also the first to get brand new tricycles, just before my father left for good. The year was 1952.

From birth, children are taught the basics, respect your parents, don’t drink, don’t steal or lie or do drugs. I’m not saying these rules apply for every child but this is the foundation set out for most families. After parents set up these ground rules they are often shocked when they find their kids drinking or doing drugs contrary to what they were taught.

With a wistful eye, my mother described watching the film How Green was my Valley as a reflection of her youth. In the women she identified with, her version of Maureen O’Hara was a strong-willed young woman supported by her siblings, parents, townsfolk and educators.Muffled together around the wood stove at the family farm, she described her siblings as you would, old friends.

I have a poster on my wall showcasing the chakra colors and their intentions. Today, I want to dive into the deeper meaning of colors.
In art school, I discovered how colors influence us. Why is the sky blue and why does blue have a calming effect? Why do we associate red with love, yellow with jealousy, and orange with warmth?

Hello, my fellow film buffs! I am sad to say that May has seen an incredibly mediocre collection of films release, to the point where I’ve only seen a couple this month, which do not really have the substance required to write one of my famous socially conscious (if slightly pretentious) film reviews.

Cayo Largo, Cuba, is a magical spot. However, while tourists enjoy the lavish offerings of resort living, locals struggle.
The beaches of Cayo Largo are home to several turtle species: the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta), the Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), and the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas).
