1 year ago today I graduated massage school!
So thankful for this beautiful profession, all the health care professionals that have supported me during my first year, and all the clients I have had the pleasure of treating - I couldn’t do this job without you! 🫶🏻
I often get asked this by my TMJD patients and the answer is YES!!
Although I do have additional training in treating TMJD, I am still trained to treat other orthopedic conditions. A few common ones I see in my room include muscle strains, SIJ irritation, osteoarthritis, & disc herniation.
Massage therapy has many benefits for the body. One study completed in 2022 that investigated the effects of massage therapy on fatigue and mood in female rowers found decreased muscular fatigue levels during exercise and improvements in mood following a series of massages (Aeini, 2022). This is just a couple examples of what massage therapy can help with!

Had such a great time connecting with the current massage students at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy. Today we focused on employee positions vs self employment in addition to a brief discussion on the New Brunswick board exams. Good luck with the rest of your last semester! You will all do great!
Cupping is a modality where a plastic cup is placed on the skin with suction. This helps to separate the layers of tissue in areas that may feel “stuck”.
Other benefits include:
🌸decreases in muscle tension (tightness)
🌸 reduces fascial restrictions
🌸 increases in range of motion
🌸 enhances circulation
Curious about including cupping in your next treatment? Let’s chat!

Does your jaw click or pop when you open your mouth? Do you experience jaw pain and/or headaches? Does it ever feel like your jaw may lock in place? If any of that sounds familiar, it’s possible that you may be experiencing temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD)!
Over the past few days I have been connecting with a few local dentists in Dartmouth and was surprised to learn that most places did not have/know a massage therapist to refer to when patients present with TMJD!
Well… now they do and so do you!
Next time you’re at the dentist, you may just spot one of these in the waiting room 👀👀
Trying new things can be scary sometimes, especially when it is related to our health! If you have ever wanted to try massage therapy but felt unsure about it, give this a read!
