Our family is in need of someone’s generosity. My name is Aly-Muhammad and I am 13 years old. Me and my younger brother Arman, who is 8 years old, are launching this page with the help of our mom to try and find our dad a kidney. Our goal is to search for a kidney donation for our loving dad, Karim, who has been battling chronic kidney disease for the last 20 years. Unfortunately, he is now in kidney failure (stage 5) causing his kidneys not to work well enough to keep him alive. His treatment options are limited to dialysis or a kidney transplant.

Getting regular dialysis treatments will help the kidneys do their job, but a transplant would offer him more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life. A transplant would also give him more time and energy to take us to our soccer and hockey games and spend time with family and friends. If a transplant is not done in time or it takes too long to get a kidney, our dad may not be qualified anymore based on the status of his health. As many of you know, he had a quadruple heart bypass a few years ago so it is vital that he receive a transplant as soon as possible, while his heart health is stable.

Finding a kidney for a transplant is not easy, there are over 4000+ people currently waiting for a deceased donor. Time is not on our side. Some wait for years; many die while waiting. The wait times are extremely long ranging from 3-8 years for a kidney from a deceased donor!! However, there is another option: receiving a kidney from a living donor. Asking you to consider donating a kidney is difficult, but it greatly improves my dad's chances of getting a transplant. One of the major advantages of finding a live donor is reducing the wait time from years to months.

If donating a kidney to our dad is something you would like to consider, we would be happy to help you get tested to see if you are a match. At the very least we want to bring awareness of kidney disease and living donation.
