I’ve been dreaming of my own facility since I became a trainer in 2006, but that dream didn’t become crystal clear until much later.
Like many others I started my fitness journey with the ultimate goal of getting smaller. I became a trainer after losing more than 100lbs (you can read more about that on my blog) but I still struggled with my relationship with my body.
Fast forward to 2014, when my career hit rock bottom and I had a decision to make: either find a way to be okay with myself the way I was, even if I never lost another ounce, OR find something else to do with my life.
Enter powerlifting, then a few months later, olympic lifting. I’m not exaggerating even a little bit when I say that barbell sports changed my life and saved my career. I decided soon after that that I would spend the rest of my training career giving back to the barbell sports communities.
Strength HQ is the end result of years of planning and grinding. It’s the gym where everyone can come and train and get strong as heck, without ever worrying about trying to fit into anyone’s idea of what strong should look like. I want ALL of you to feel strong and healthy and develop the skills you need to feel awesome forever. This is what Strength HQ is about.
