What’s your perfect day look like? ☀️

My great-grandmother’s perfect day when she was getting on in years was asking someone to drive her around to “look at the crops.” She’d sit in the back like a queen and yell at the driver if they went too fast for her to be able to see properly what everyone was planting.

My perfect day starts when it’s still early enough to need a sweater in the morning. Get a coffee and start driving, Don Williams “Lord I hope this day is good” plays on the radio of a vehicle old enough to sail over the slight dips in the backroad as we drive through tiny towns where we cruise garage sales and antique shops. Windows get rolled down, stories get told, ci******es are smoked and coffees get refilled at roadside gas stations where there is no pay-at-the-pump option. Eventually we stop for a cold river swim when the sun gets high. Back in the car with wet hair, CSNY blaring loud so there’s no need to talk anymore while we head home to get supper started.

Life is good.
