The knowledge that a person living with HIV can’t pass it on to their s*xual partner has been an amazing advancement!
Misconceptions still play a big role in perpetuating the stigma surrounding HIV, we need to break those down with the facts. Tackle HIV
We Remember: Ryan White passed away on this day April, 8th, 1990. His story has touched millions around the globe, and through the Ryan White Care Act an untold number of lives have been saved. Through this act people living with HIV in the United States with low income, and/or no insurance can access HIV medications for FREE through each states AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).
Ryan White never surrendered—not to AIDS, not to despair, not to the fearful public passions that his illness once aroused. Diagnosed in 1984, he successfully challenged his school board in Kokomo, Ind., for the right to attend classes—and became a reluctant celebrity. Later he moved with his mother to nearby Cicero, Ind., in hopes of finding a more ordinary childhood. But Ryan White was not ordinary. With his smile and grace, he taught the world not to surrender to fear. This is the story of his final journey, told by the only reporter Ryan’s family wanted to be there.

We are hiring for a Director!
Are you a progressive, dynamic, engaging, and strategic leader who has a proven track record working within African, Caribbean, and Black communities in Ontario? Then, we want to hear from you. Please apply for this exciting opportunity today by visiting the link in our bio.
WHO WE ARE:
The African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario (ACCHO) is a provincial organization that provides strategic leadership in response to HIV/AIDS in African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities in Ontario. ACCHO came into existence due to the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS within ACB communities due to anti-Black racism and other social and economic determinants of health. We are committed to facilitating systemic change that will amplify the voices and better the lives of ACB people living with, affected by, or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
WHAT WE DO:
We respond to HIV/AIDS within ACB communities using an intersectional approach to our work, including the meaningful involvement and engagement of ACB people living with HIV/AIDS, a continually evolving a**lysis of anti-Black racism, and other overlapping systems of oppression.
