Cupping is a fantastic treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions, but it is especially effective for the treatment of scars. This remedial technique can help to reduce pain and itching, help with elasticity of the scar tissue, and help increase movement of the limbs or body part affected. Check out the mini documentary that Dave Sheehan, developer of the Myofascial Cupping Technique, shot recently, showing the wonderful benefits of this great technique. Dave is working towards setting up a clinical trial in Cupping and Burns Scars in the near future and hopes to bring this research to a webinar format soon!

An interesting read discussing reintroduction of therapeutic touch after traumatic burn injuries.
Recovery for major burn survivors can be an extremely long, painful process as they go through multiple skin grafts and other surgeries. Problems that may present in recovery (and beyond) include skin dryness, nerve damage (neuropathy), stiffness and restricted range of motion due to scar tissue, permanent disfigurement and extreme psychological trauma.
Often, burn survivors are only touched by their doctors after severe burn incidents, as even loved ones can be afraid of inflicting pain through casual touch. An organization in the United States is working towards changing that by bringing massage services to under-served burn survivors. They are backing up their case with several amazing studies of massage clients reporting improved mobility and range of motion, improved neuropathy and mental well-being.
Just another amazing healing aspect of Massage Therapy!
