It's time for the Birds Sale Plus Sale Sale (yeah, that's right!). The Birds of North America pop-up had to end sometime 😢 (there's actually pretty strict rules about that stuff that don't disappear no matter how much I try wishing 😩), and that time is Aug. 31 (THIS SATURDAY). But, friends, we won't let them go back to Toronto without a great farewell send off that sounds really complicated, but is actually very simple: 50% off all the pieces, and since they are already 50% their regular price, that's an amazing deal letmetellyou. (We've done this sale a few times now over the years, and, friends, I think I can finally say with only a little 🤏🏻 hesitation that that means they are 75% off their regular price, but I'm still not totally sure if that's how the maths work 🤷🏻‍♀️) The sale is on *Aug 30-31* (that's Friday-Saturday, friends!) in-store and online. OMG, friends, it's the last week of our Birds of North America pop-up!!!! (Also -unrelated- the last week of Mercury Retrograde, which cannot be over soon enough b/c I actually almost asked a regular customer "are you pregnant?" 😳 Only monumental astronomical events can explain why this UNIVERSAL no-no almost came out of my mouth 🤦🏻‍♀️) ANYWAYS, the amazing Birds of North Amercia pieces at Red Pony will be here until Aug. 31st, so if you haven't had a chance to pop in, you must. ⬆️ Marcie is wearing the Fox Sparrow dress while hanging out at our neighbor's Acoustic Music shop (in the drum section which is right below Red Pony that you may have heard through the floor sometime 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Having fun with next-door neighbor Van from .yeg at Momma Tongs before the accident that lead to this beautiful corner of her shop (and her front door 😱) being distroyed. It's fun owning a small business 🥴. BUT, luckily Momma Tong's has THE BEST neighbors -ahem, us!- so you can come into Red Pony to place your Momma Tong orders/pick up (there's a secret passage that connects our 2 shops!! 🔮), AND the "Vietnamese Coffee" neon sign survived the accident, and Vietnamese Coffee is still available if you are not-at-all addicted to Vietnamese coffee like me 🤷🏻‍♀️. So, you know that Birds of North America pop-up we were supposed to have until the end of the month? Well, it's almost the end of the month 🤷🏻‍♀️ and time to pop-down the pop-up 😢. Now, friends, let's make this about me (B/CI NEVER DO THAT) and run down a quick list if things I don't want to do: (1) pack a box, (2) count things (3) paperwork. And I have to do ALL THESE THINGS at the end of the pop-up, AND THEN I have to get it all shipped back to T.O. 😩!  (OK, I actually have people to handle shipping things over at Acoustic Music Shop -b/c although I am both incompetent and lazy, friends, I am also wiley about getting people to stuff for me, like shipping- but, I mean, I still have to TEXT THEM to get them to do it.) THE POINT is, friends, if you are still reading this: it's much easier to just get rid of the Birds of North America stuff with a sale, you know, b/c they are already hung up and I printed the pretty sign. So, I'm thinking 50% off all the Birds stuff that was already 50% off!!! Friends, I thought there were, like, 3 more weeks left in March, but I have been informed by credible sources (um, a calendar) that the month ends next week 😳. I've had this one for a while, friends, and one day I accidentally out-quirkied myself by wearing my Loons dress with my duck coat! 😆 (I'm not *actually* obsessed with foul, even though it might appear that way; everyone knows my obsession is with cats sitting in boxes, b/c I'm very normal that way.) Friends, you know how I don't wear pants b/c I just can't handle a 2-piece anything? (It's ok, I have accepted this about myself! But don't worry, there is LOTS I still hate myself for! 😆). And I don't wear jeans because  -in the biggest trick ever pulled on humanity- JEANS ARE ALSO PANTS. However, I know normal people LOVE the jean-pants! I even have friends who wear jeans! Anyways, although they recently closed shop for good (gulp 😥), our good friends at Arturo Denim Co. have sent us the very last existing small batch of their handmade jeans, all NWT, to sell at Red Pony! (I can not believe we are cool enough for this, friends!) So, you know, the VERY LAST Arturo jeans EVER 😱, but no pressure 😅.

So here's what happened, friends: someone (a beloved regular customer) gave me, Marcie, Ash and even Freya (my kid who helps at the shop) special x-mas chocolates. Obviously,  I devoured mine right away (and, um, Freya's, b/c she is a kid and has no expectation of getting a gift from a customer and, plus, how would she ever find out?! 🤷🏻‍♀️), and then I realized I should take a picture of the pretty chocolates, but, at this point I already ate mine AND Freya's. Then I remembered Marcie is allergic to chocolate (or something like that; I'm not sure b/c I'm actually not a very good listener 🤷🏻‍♀️), so I felt pretty sure she wouldnt mind if I went ahead and used her chocolate as a prop. I was NOT going to eat it, friends....but then I kinda accidentally put it in mouth 🤦🏻‍♀️, so I figured I should eat the whole thing so that there would not be any confusion about which of the remaining 2 chocolates had been in my mouth 😬. It was THE SAFE CHOICE.

Excellent! Fashion photographer agreed to come to Red Pony and Acoustic Music Shop to take family photos ahead of the holidays. Now, before you start thinking I am an organized, clever person who sends out y-mas cards (see what I did there?!? 😆) with cute family photos in a timely manner, let me assure you that I have NEVER sent out y-mas cards, and I 100% say every single year that NEXT year I will do it, and eventually spend about 6 weeks stewing in self-loathing as I anticipate my inevitable failure to do so. I'm just a complicated person, friends!🤷🏻‍♀️

It finally happened, friends: I have run out of birds puns, which means -VERY LOGICALLY-  that we have to pack up our
Birds of North America pop-up and send them home. (I'm sorry, OK?! I've already made "migration" and "flocking" jokes, and now I'm all out! 😩). The last day for these beauties (ack, see?! That's not even close to a pun!🤦🏻‍♀️) at Red Pony will be Saturday Sept. 9th. Now, don't forget that they only sent us one of each size, so I don't mean to make you panic, but you should *definitely* panic and run down to get the ones you wanted.
PLUS, starting Thursday, to distract you from the fact that I have run out of puns and am no longer funny, we will be having a 50% OFF THE 50% OFF Birds of North America pop-up sale!! I am only halfway sure that that adds up to 75% off the original price b/c I find that kind of percentage-math complicated (like gauge-math, amirite knitters?!).

Also, I was watching Murder, She Wrote, and Jessica Fletcher was in a car, and she says to the driver "Stop at the next phone booth, I want to look up an address". Not even just "A" phone booth, but "the NEXT" phone booth...b/c there are MANY phone booths, and they ALL have a magical book in them that lists ALL the addresses, so this is a completely plausible way to solve mysteries, and, frankly, I don't know how they solve anything these days without phone booths. Friends, you are about to have an AWESOME weekend! This Saturday is our pop-up with at Red Pony (10-2), then you'll go to the show at 7:00 (get your tickets to this all-ages drag show early and show the next gen that we love to see them express themselves creatively and we love, encourage and stand with them!) and then after that our friends down the Ave are partnering with local documentary photographer (I know him!) for free Ice Cream Portraits! So if are looking at these pics of me ⬆️ and maybe hating me a little b/c I look soooo good (and also b/c of the thousands of years of patriarchal standards of beauty imposed on women and internalized misogyny intended to pit women against each other so that they don't rise up together has suddenly 🤷🏻‍♀️), well, then, THIS COULD BE YOU!! Saturday at starting at 9:00, go get some yummy ice cream, check out their adorable new space, and get a free dreamy pic of yourself by to remember this little moment uncomplicated joy forever!

This Saturday (that's June 24th, for those of you like me who still think we are in March!) local maker will be at Red Pony with her amazing hand-crafted bags! Like you, we are sensible, mature and strict when it comes to our purse needs. We prioritize the important, Grown Up stuff.....like cute lining, secret pockets and twist locks!! Each one of creations are so different from the other, with shapes I have never seen before (what does that cresent shaped bag do?!) and, seriously, so many secret pockets! Add some Riffle Paper Co. lining and serious hardware and you can find me curled up in one of her circular bags trying to make it my house! Julie even makes incredibly detailed *mini* versions of her actual bags as key-chains/charms to hook onto your real bag! (We wanted her to make even TINIER versions to hook onto the minis, but she had to draw the line. 😄)
Julie from will be at Red Pony from 10-2 on Saturday June 24th! Come check out her stuff, I promise you have never seen some of these incredible designs!
