Many people feel that their health problems are a result of genetics and / or the natural aging process. And while we do need to manage our health differently as we age, most chronic health conditions are the result of lifestyle choices - like ๐๐จ๐จ๐!
And yet, when we try to eat better, sometimes we get that pressure from our friends to stop. Does it sound something like this: "one bite isn't going to kill you." or "live a little" or (and this is my favourite) "everything in moderation".
Why does this happen?? Why do our friends / family "pressure" us into making food choices we don't really want to make??
I think it is because they are afraid...
๐Afraid that you are changing, and our friends often want us to stay the same. When you change what you eat, maybe they are afraid that you will change in other ways too.
๐Afraid that you will start to judge them for what they eat.
๐Afraid that you will become more distant from them. People bond over food, but if you aren't eating what they are eating, that can feel uncomfortable for them.
It becomes a balancing act, and more often then naught, we tend to lean on the side of our friends, family and our relationships with them.
It doesn't have to be that way!!

That sounds exhausting!! Her body faces high insulin levels and continual exposure to toxins from sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. I like to call her the Overwhelmed and Exhausted Couch Potato, because at the end of the day, that's where she ends up!

Our weekend morning traditions often included some sticky, sweet "treat", usually cinnamon buns or coffee cake.
In recent years, we've done away with that form of eating, even for a "special" occasion such as a holiday.

This one came from my friend and fellow coach, Pamela LaPointe - who is just so creative in the kitchen!
You know how you can buy a head of cabbage for a recipe, but it is ๐๐๐ more than you need ๐ and you never know what to do with the rest?
Here's an idea that is great for breakfast, or as a side to your dinner. Serve like hash browns and top with an egg, or make into made mini sized patties and serve as an appetizer along with a homemade ranch or dill dip.
You may not like vegetables, but your body does!
When you eat good food, your tastebuds change and you discover that you really ๐๐ enjoy things that you might be surprised at!
I use my crock pot a lot! And I rarely use my Instant Pot - I just never seem to remember that I have it, and quite frankly it scares me! ๐
I love this recipe because it gives me options! The first time I made it, I used my Instant Pot (mainly because I had forgotten to pull the crock pot out in the morning and didn't have a choice! ๐). It turned out beautifully.
This is a great recipe for my WildFit clients for the season of spring because it is full of green vegetables. But you can certainly get creative and add in tomatoes or red onion, or whatever left over vegetables that you have in your fridge!

And then there is the added bonus of yummy leftovers, which makes packing a lunch for work so easy!
This recipe is great for WildFit Summer and Fall! If you are in Mild Spring, then just remove the carrots!
If you want to make it smoother, just blend the soup with an immersion blender to the consistency you like!
