Upcoming EVENT! Little Feet Children’s Physiotherapy]] will be putting on an open house next month to showcase the new children’s physiotherapy services provided at Kid City!

Mark your calendars! The event is Oct 17th from 1:00pm-6:00pm . We will be open to the public and offering FREE admission to our playground.

We have partnered with Gimli Physiotherapy to put on educational presentations and a family fitness session. Gimli Physiotherapy will be open to providing Physiotherapy services for adults in our clinic space. Prefect for parents with children in tow as the parent can receive Physiotherapy while their child is happily playing!

We have 3 special guests coming with a lot of amazing paediatric equipment for families to learn about and trial!

will be coming with adaptive bikes and chill out chairs. Adaptive bikes are readily funded by numerous charities in MB. Bike riding is so good for children of all abilities as the bikes provides lower extremity dynamic or passive range of motion as well as lower body strengthening. Come try out a wide selection of bikes!

will be coming with various paediatric mobility and ADL equipment including walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, and more! This is a perfect opportunity to come see various paediatric equipment to see if it’s the right fit for your child.

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on, holistic form of treatment, assessing the whole body. First described by Dr. A.T. Still in the 1800s, it focuses on treating the musculoskeletal system, so called “osteopathic lesions”, to re-establish balance and encourage the self-healing mechanism of the individual. By regarding body, mind and soul as a unit, osteopathy is concerned with a person-centered health care rather than disease-centered. While considering the interrelationship of structure and function, the osteopathic manual practitioner performs non-invasive techniques such as joint mobilizations, soft tissue therapy and prescribes exercises and will also give recommendations on a patient's diet and lifestyle.

About Silva Passmore, DO(MP):
Silva graduated from the National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) in 2013 and is an active member in good standing of the National Manual Osteopathic Society (NMOS) and the Manual Osteopathy Association of Manitoba (MOAM).
She complements osteopathic manual treatments with her knowledge and experience in physiotherapy to help patients optimally. In addition, her further qualifications in Visceral manipulation, Manual lymphatic drainage, Medical taping, N.A.P. – Reset the Brain, TMJ, Craniosacral therapy and the Dorn method help contribute to her treatment style. She's especially skilled in treating acute and chronic back pain, shoulder injuries and TMJ/TMD.

Silva will be taking appointments every Wednesday from 1:00PM-6:00PM.

We would like to welcome Sarah Dickson, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) to the Gimli Physio Team! Sarah graduated from the Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy. She was born and raised in Gimli, MB, but moved to Winnipeg to attend University. Sarah is very excited to be back to her home town of Gimli and to provide Massage Therapy to her community!

Her academics include studying human anatomy/physiology, osteopathic-based assessment and treatment techniques that aim to diagnose and treat multiple dysfunctions in the musculoskeletal system. Sarah also has training in pre and post sports massage for those that wish to target sports-specific therapy. She plans to continue to expand her knowledge with continuing education to further specialize in various treatment techniques.

In her free time she likes to go boating, fishing, golfing, watching endless episodes of Friends, The Office as well as spending time with family and friends.
