Celebrate science and energy during this year's from September 18-24!

Science Literacy Week showcases the many ways that kids and families can explore and enjoy the diversity of Canadian science. Libraries, museums, science centres, schools and not-for-profits all come together to highlight different forms of media as well as events that share exciting stories about scientific discoveries.

This year's theme is energy. Energy is all around us, and it is essential to remember to be responsible in our consumption as not all energy sources are sustainable.

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society is dedicated to protecting the land, freshwater, and ocean with their presence in Canada, and continuously work towards ways to respect the sovereignty and leadership of Indigenous nations.

The AIPOSS National Summit is taking place this week in Ottawa.

What is the goal of this work? It is to focus greatly on maximizing partnership opportunities and facilitating partnerships with Indigenous communities.

The Summit invited potential partners from academia, industry, government and philanthropy to share what they have to offer with Indigenous communities to help advance the work they are doing.

We hope that the AIPOSS National Summit will continue to foster connections and facilitate partnerships with Indigenous communities for the advancement of Ocean Science and Sustainability through Two-Eyed Seeing.

Pisces RPM is pleased to be able to support and take part in the AIPOSS National Summit in Ottawa this week.

This summit will bring together diverse perspectives on Indigenous-led solutions for sustainable oceans from across the country. The AIPOSS National Summit is not a call-for-opinions, but rather a call-to-action. It is a platform for discussion and creating community-based solutions for the ocean issues that matter to your community.

The Summit prioritizes Indigenous voices, focusing on taking action and identifying opportunities for meaningful Indigenous participation in the sustainable blue economy.

Advancing Indigenous Partnerships in Ocean Science for Sustainability (AIPOSS) is an endorsed project under United Nations (UN) Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) (‘Ocean Decade’) led by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.

The project aims to establish a clear path forward toward tangible Indigenous-led solutions to ocean sustainability and to improve Indigenous capacity for ocean governance and ocean change resilience.
