Two common questions clients ask when planning their outfits for photos…

👉 1. Should I avoid patterns?
👉 2. Should we all have the same colours throughout our clothing?

The answer might surprise you, because it’s typically a *no* for both.

Patterns: A beautiful way to add detail and interest to your outfits. I am a big fan! The only thing you want to avoid are patterns that will cause this bizarre effect called ‘moire’, such as ribbed clothing and stripped patterns that are very close together. A quick google search will help this make sense!

Matching: You don’t need to have everyone in every colour that you have in mind for your wardrobe. It always looks most natural, while still very cohesive, if there is some variety throughout.

Family photos coming up? 👉 Here are 3 easy ways to create a wonderful shared experience for you and your family at your photo session, resulting in beautiful moments captured (just like you see here during one of my 10 minute mini sessions!).

1. Make it Fun ✨ Explore your surroundings, play games, talk about upcoming holidays or events, sing songs, tell jokes, and make funny sounds. The more open to joy you are, the more natural, loving, and joyful your photos will be.

2. Keep it Light 😊 Leave discipline to a minimum with your littles and instead embrace silliness, calmness, and a go-with-the-flow attitude. Redirect any undesired behaviours in an understanding and playful way. This will help everyone feel heard, relaxed, and happy, resulting in an overall enjoyable time together as a family.

3. Embrace Affection 🫶 Show your unique connection and all the love you have for one another. Cuddle, hold hands, lean in close, give big squeezes, tell your family how much they mean to you, and share how proud you are to walk through life with them. These intimate moments will make for sweet, heartfelt captures to treasure for years to come.

Yesterday my youngest and I ventured out together for a spontaneous snow adventure and it was such a nice outing. I decided to bring my camera along and I’m so happy that I did, capturing a few moments of her exploring this enchanting winter wonderland was so sweet.

Nature and children alike never fail to inspire me - both so beautiful and unapologetically authentic.

📣 Today I’m sharing a significant and heartfelt announcement with all of you 📣 After much contemplation, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to take a break from wedding photography and redirect my focus to another beloved area of my business—luxury portrait photography. That means I am no longer accepting new wedding clients, but you will still be able to book me for your family, maternity, and newborn photos. I will also take on a limited number of engagement, anniversary, proposal, and branding sessions 🤍

After nearly 13 wonderful years of capturing both weddings and portraits simultaneously, I am genuinely excited about dedicating all my energy to my portrait session clients in the years moving forward. My commitment is to deliver exceptional service and create an unforgettable experience from the very beginning to the very end 🙌

This decision has been thoroughly considered, and while I will undoubtedly miss the joy of capturing wedding days and working with incredible couples 🥺, I am grateful that I have one more season left in me. You can rest assured that we will close out the wedding chapter with a bang this year!! 2024 will be my last year photographing weddings, at least for the time being.

Juggling both weddings and portraits over the years has been a fulfilling journey. However, this past year, with two sweet little ones at home, it has been eye-opening. It became clear that a change was necessary for my own quality of life and necessary to be able to move forward showing up how I wanted to for my family and my business. As I’m sure most parents can relate to, time has become my most treasured commodity.

Moving forward, the focus will be on embracing an exclusive clientele list, delivering an exceptional service, and achieving the best quality of life possible. These coming years are dedicated to creating moments of true excellence and cherishing the beauty of a balanced life.

I can’t thank you enough for your unwavering support, love, and kindness during this incredibly exciting and transformative period. Feeling grateful and exceptionally fortunate to have you all here with me. I truly love capturing all of your special moments 🥹🫶
