That’s a wrap on day one! Team Canada is enjoying some downtime following the first full day of competition at the Admiral Games in Cardiff.

Canada picked up a fifth-place finish in mixed doubles tennis this afternoon, giving Canada another 10 points to add to our 20 from this morning’s round of dodgeball.

Spain had a very successful day, winning both tennis and five-side football to keep them atop the leaderboard heading into tomorrow. Admiral Pioneer’s swimming success has them sitting pretty second place.

The games resume tomorrow a.m. with athletics – shot put, long jump and relay race – followed by pétanque, triathlon, and pentathlon in the afternoon. Go Team Canada!!

From this recent round of TASC Chats, it’s exciting to see how much talent we have within our department.
All candidates made it evident they are ‘Striving for better: both personally and professionally’. It was not an easy decision as there was no shortage of competition!

April Impact Awards! 🧩

April Impact Awards 2023

Along with prioritizing the safety and support of our colleagues, we’re also focusing on how we can help the affected communities at large.

Today, we’re announcing a $50,000 donation to support the community organizations at the heart of ongoing relief efforts in Nova Scotia.

We’ll ask for staff suggestions in determining the recipients who will benefit from this $50,000 funding announcement. A link will be provided tomorrow that you can use to nominate an organization. Stay tuned and stay safe.

Recognizing this is a critical and devastating time in our community; we have opened the Emergency Staff Support Fund, our in-house aid program.

Admiral is here to offer support to staff directly affected. We will be providing proactive emergency funding to those who have been evacuated, and should they be unavailable to attend work, these colleagues will remain fully paid until further notice.

The office is available as a comfort station should anyone require using its facilities, including your family and pets.

A voucher will be automatically emailed today to staff displaced from their homes as part of an evacuation order. If further assistance is required, including additional financial aid and transportation, please contact your manager, and we’ll be in touch on how we can help.
