Happy retirement Tom !!!

You asked and we've got it! Watch Associate Professor of Humanities the Rev. Dr. Thomas Curran deliver the FYP Final Lecture, titled "Back to Front." In addition to being the last FYP lecture of the year, this was also Dr. Curran’s final lecture before retirement.

Such a well deserving recipient !

Love this headshot of Sherri from a few years back 📷

King’s will host a historic ceremony at the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia on February 27, to honour the legendary journalist Sherri Borden Colley, BJ(Hons)’97, with a Doctor of Civil Law (honoris causa).

The event marks the realization of a long-awaited moment for the community: Borden Colley’s selection for this honour was originally announced in 2020, but due to the pandemic it has not been possible before this moment to confer the award.

“It is tremendously satisfying to know that the moment has arrived when we can celebrate Sherri’s deeply impactful career and the many contributions she has made to her field and the country,” says King’s President and Vice-Chancellor William Lahey. “Her commitment to telling the stories of African Nova Scotians has done so much to raise awareness about the province’s historic African Nova Scotian communities and their deep cultural significance.”

Today is National , a day to encourage Indigenous women and girls to wear ribbon skirts to celebrate their culture, strength and their connection as women. It’s also an opportunity for people to learn and celebrate Indigenous traditions.

Ribbon skirts are traditionally worn in ceremonies and during special events by Indigenous women and represent their identity, diversity and strength. To learn more about the day, visit https://ccdi.ca/blog/celebrating-national-ribbon-skirt-day/
