One year ago today - Sunrise at Mount Taranaki, North Island, New Zealand

Three images from last night's encounter with comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) over Shad Bay, Nova Scotia.

As it was perfectly still, I was even fortunate enough to catch the brightness of Venus on the ocean and a glimpse of the Milky Way to the far left of the third image.

As the next encounter with this comet is in 80,000 years time, I may just miss it.

We went out, hoping to see the comet but increasing clouds blocked our view.

We settled for a very dramatic sunset and a Hunters Moon at Prospect, Nova Scotia.

Always a positive outcome.

This just in. It's been a week for celestial objects.

We were watching the sunset at Lower Prospect, Halifax County, Nova Scotia when comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) caught our attention.

Currently visible to the naked eye, there it was.

Another lovely waterfall: Gluggafoss, South Coast, Iceland.

What makes Gluggafoss unique is its geology - the river has created several holes and tunnels in the soft palagonite bedrock, through which the water finds its way - Icelanders call them "gluggar" or windows.
