We choose not to recognize canada day as it is a day that celebrates the founding of this nation state that could not exist without the ongoing genocide of the Indigenous peoples of this land on northern Turtle Island. And more specifically we are on Mi'kma'ki, the unceded and stolen land of the Mi'kmaq people and we encourage settlers to take time, not just today, to learn about the land we occupy and the treaties that we must honour.
We also choose not to celebrate this day because "canada" continues to aid and abet genocides happening all over the world, including supporting "israel's" genocide of Palestinian's.

It has been 262 days since "israel" has escalated its ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians. As of today the current official amount of martyred Palestinians in Gaza alone is 37, 626. This number is understood to be thousands less than the actual amount because "israel" has destroyed so much healthcare infrastructure, and murdered so many healthcare professionals that there is not the resources to possibly account for the scale of Palestinians killed. The thousands of people who are under rubble and have been missing are not counted. This devastation, horror, and heartbreak can not be met with silence.
Our leaders are proudly standing behind "israel's" brutal occupation of Palestine and the genocide they are carrying out with many governments complicity. This includes sending weapons to the zionist entity. You can learn more about this from . And please demand and immediate, retroactive, 2 way arms and trade embargo from your elected officials.
Other ways you can support Palestinians is donating to local Palestinian fundraisers like .fundraiser who are raising funds to support their family members to evacuate Gaza and come reunite with him here in Kjipuktuk. The Rafa crossing may be closed but it wont be forever and people urgently need money for their safety. If you can support, head to their page and find out all the ways you can, like their t-shirt fundraiser. Support can also look like sharing it with your communities and folks who may have some extra funds.
In the shop we have pay what you can items for donations towards the Obeid Family fundraiser, and a donation jar to donate cash directly.
