Omani Lemons ($2.49), also known as Loomi has been used in Persian cooking for centuries.

These dehydrated lemons offer an amazing citrus to stews, and can be steeped for tea as well. Add them to soups, your basmati rice when boiling or grate them onto meats/fish when grilling.

Theirs also so many health benefits to these little balls of goodness, here's a list:

1) Heart Health: Studies have shown that Loomi is very beneficial to the heart as it contains a lot of potassium. This helps by reducing the incidence of palpitations and irregularities in the process of pumping blood.

2) Antioxidant: Loomi can offer detoxification benefits to the body as it contains many properties that fight against harmful bacteria and toxins within the body.

3) Prevents Bowel Disease: Loomi has a high percentage of vitamin C and can be beneficial in cleansing the intestines and reducing inflammation.

4) General Health: Loomi contains so many minerals and vitamins such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, folic acid, etc... which assists the body to generate to new cells and thus improve the immune system.

Our Halal Whole Lamb Shoulders 🐑 at only $8.99/lbs! If you have a large family or want leftovers for days, this is definitely the cut to go with. A beautiful recipe that you can try out with this lovely Halal Lamb Shoulder:

Step 1

Slice the fat cap of the Lamb Shoulder in a diagonal diamond pattern, season with salt, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, and dry mint. Marinate preferably overnight but 3 hours is also fine.

Step 2

Roast in oven at 375 Fahrenheit to brown on all sides.

Step 3

Next, make the braising liquid, in a large pot with lid, cook 1 chopped onion and 6 garlic cloves, add 1 tsp of the same spice mix you used to marinade the lamb, add 2 tbsp of pomegranate molasses and add 1 litre of water or lamb/chicken stock to the pot. Bring to a simmer and let the flavors mingle for a few minutes.

Step 4

Remove lamb shoulder from oven and add to pot with braising liquid, bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer, cover with lid and cook for 3-4 hours.

Step 5

Remove lid after 4 hours and reduce braising liquid until nice and sticky, be careful as the sugars may burn if it is reduced too much.
 
What to serve with

Garnish with some cilantro or mint and pomegranate seeds. Serve alongside some couscous topped with pistachio and some yogurt on the side!
