EXTERNAL AWARDS OPPORTUNITY
The đ CFL Alumni Association (CFLAA) created an âIndigenous Champion Awardâ in 2021. This prestigious award honours former Indigenous CFL players or current advocates of Indigenous participants as players or coaches in the game of football. The CFLAA Indigenous Champion Award supports the Canadian Football Leagueâs âDiversity is Strengthâ strategy and Truth and Reconciliation initiatives.
There is an active call for nominations for the 2024 CFLAA Indigenous Champion Award. We invite you to nominate individuals who meet the following criteria:
⢠A former CFL player or CFL alumnus of Indigenous ancestry who has made or is making a significant contribution to football or the community; OR
⢠A coach of Indigenous ancestry who has made or is making a significant grassroots contribution to the game of football; OR
⢠A coach who has made or is making a positive impact on Indigenous football players at any level.
Additional Considerations:
⢠Ideally, the recipient will come from the region in which the Grey Cup game is being played.
⢠Nominations should be submitted by completing the CFLAA-approved nomination form.
⢠A nominee without Indigenous ancestry should only be nominated by a person of Indigenous ancestry.
Nomination deadline is Friday, August 16 2024, at midnight. Successful nominees will be contacted in September.

Our Condolences go out to family and friends of Peter Martin. Pete was an integral member of the CFLAA since our inception. He was a true believer in alumni giving back to their communities and lead by example. He will be missed.
