First became known to me with the masterful song
“Green Eyes” from the Captured Tracks album Chris Cohen. (I’ll add it to my stories)

I love that album! But what I didn’t realize is I also knew him from his work in DEERHOOF - which he was a member of for 3 of my favourite records of theirs. MILK MAN especially!!!

We’re so glad to have him bring his incredible new album PAINT A ROOM to the shop: can’t wait to hear these songs live!!

I’d been chatting with longtime bud for a while about putting a show together at the shop. Summer gets twisted up - and time moves quickly!

SOOOOO, sorry for the last minute announcement (well, week of…) but we’re going to do a little early evening shopshow. If you don’t know Michael, I’m excited for you to hear em!

Michael Feuerstack is a songwriter, musician, and producer based in Montréal. In his nearly 3 decades in the musical world, he has penned a deluge of records, collaborated with countless internationally renowned talents, and impressed those who encounter his work with his curiosity, musicality, and agility across genres. Feuerstack’s solo career (formerly under the name Snailhouse) comprises a collection of songs that simultaneously comfort and confront. In both lyrics and music, Feuerstack seamlessly passes from traditional to experimental – revealing a willingness to engage in both contemporary and traditional forms.

José Lobo is celebrating the Toronto vinyl release of his debut album ‘In all good Hope’, come out to into the abyss for a night of storytelling and little songs. Sharing the night with me are two of my favourite local musicians Jaden Rason (Walk me Home) and Jackie McBrien (Bent Neck and The Joints)!
In All Good Hope, the debut album from singer, songwriter, and musician Jose Lobo, is a masterclass in intimacy, everything about it exuding a sense of closeness. From the highly personal lyrical themes and sparse, delicate instrumentation, to the singing, which sounds like a friend whispering a secret into your ear, the experience of listening to In All Good Hope is akin to entering an inner sanctum, or what Lobo aptly refers to as “a reverie of the quotidian”.

Jackie McBrien is a folk singer songwriter from Hamilton, ON. She is the front woman of Bent Neck and the Joints.

Jaden Raso is a lo-fi folk-and-adjacent musician from Hamilton, ON with a deep love for the magic of sound. His dreams are adorned with cassettes, field recordings, sampling, drones and distortion. He released the self-produced debut with his band Walk Me Home earlier this year and is currently in the process of recording his first solo album under the name Mind Alter Mine.

EARLY EVENING SUNDAY!

Knots is a new project centered around Michigan-based saxophonist/composer Patrick Booth’s visit to Canada for an artist residency. Featuring Booth’s longstanding collaborators Patrick O’Reilly on guitar and Phil Albert on bass, Knots adds a local pillar of creative music, Joe Sorbara (drums), into the mix and invites you to step into their sonic world of twists, loops, and intricate puzzles. Bassist/Composer Dan Fortin will open the night with a solo set, adding his unique touch to the evening.
