Parking Update

The DBHSC surface parking lot is using the HonkMobile parking system for a trial period.

Here’s what you need to know:

* There are no changes to underground parking. Patients who use the underground parking garage at DBHSC can still receive discounted rates. Bring your parking slip to your appointment to validate it.

* There are no discounted rates for the outdoor surface lot.

* During the HonkMobile trial, gates to the surface lot will be kept open. However, you still need to pay for parking.

* If you park in the surface lot, you must use the HONK app to pay. This app is available through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

McMaster Family Practice does not manage or control parking. If you have questions or need help, contact McMaster Parking Services at 905-525-9140 ext. 24232 or [email protected]. Additionally, there will be an attendant available onsite to assist you.

Holiday Hours:

The clinic will be closed Friday, March 29th for Good Friday and Monday, April 1st for Easter Monday.

In a vibrant display of inclusion, DFM staff, faculty members and residents in Hamilton donned rainbow-coloured shirts throughout the month of June to commemorate Pride Month. Through this colorful gesture, they stood united in celebration of diversity, equality and love within our clinics and workspaces.

When coming together, the various colours became a living rainbow, representing solidarity with the 2SLGBTQ+ community and support of our medical professionals, patients and staff with the message that everyone is welcome.

We are pleased to announce that our MFP Green Team has been recognized by the HFHT Green Initiative Program with a beautiful plaque that will be on display in our waiting room. The MFP Green Team is a resident-led group that in a short time has worked hard to decrease MFP’s impact on the environment by:

1) Boosting recycling within the clinic

2) Greening of the waiting room with real plants

3) Partnering with True Hamiltonian to design t-shirts to promote the “Prescribing Nature” initiative in which everyone in the clinic was encouraged to prescribe spending time in nature to our patients to improve mental health, as well as getting outside more ourselves!

4) Moving away from using exam bed paper to cleaning between patients in a way that decreases our garbage output

5) Resuming use of cloth, washable gowns and discontinuing our use of paper gowns

The team still has more projects on the go and we look forward to announcing further success stories in the near future!

Do you need a COVID-19 Swab?

Did you know that if you’re a patient at McMaster Family Practice you can now book a time for a COVID swab at your own family doctors office!

You must have one or more of the following symptoms to qualify for a COVID-19 test:

Fever &/or chills
New onset cough or worsening chronic cough
Shortness of breath
Decreased sense of taste or smell
Unexplained fatigue, lethargy or malaise
Muscle aches (myalgias)

The following dates are currently open for the MFP COVID Vaccine Testing Clinics:

If these spots gets booked up quickly, we will be sure to direct you to other testing sites in our community to ensure you have the quickest turnaround time possible.

If demand stays high for testing in our community, this clinic will be extended as long into the Fall as needed.

And remember getting fully vaccinated and practicing proper infection control measures (hand-washing, masking and distancing) are the best ways to ensure you won’t ever need a test!

Haven't Received your Covid Vaccine yet?

David Braley Health Science Centre Vaccine Clinic (located at 100 Main Street W, Hamilton on the main floor) has capacity for walk-in appointments July 13-16.

This is a Moderna only clinic for ages 18+. Clinic Hours are 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PATIENTS WHO RECEIVED ASTRA ZENECA VACCINE THROUGH OUR CLINIC ***MARCH 10-19***

Following the Ontario Government’s decision to continue with second doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, people who received their first dose of AstraZeneca from March 10, 2021 to March 19, 2021 at a Primary Care Clinic in Hamilton are eligible for an earlier dose interval of 10 weeks with informed consent.

The Hamilton Primary Care Partners (Hamilton Family Health Team, McMaster Family Health Team, Hamilton Family Medicine and Community Health Centre partners) supported by Hamilton Public Health Services are hosting clinics this weekend to offer second dose of AstraZeneca for these eligible individuals.

Clinic location: West End Clinic (690 Main Street West)
Dates: Saturday May 29 and Sunday May 30, 2021
Time: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
No appointment necessary
