Sacony was a mid-priced line of women’s and children’s apparel, bathing suits and beachwear. Sacony was part of the S. Augstein Co, Inc., founded in 1890. The label was in use for beachwear by 1938, and by 1941 they made a line of women’s summer suits using Palm Beach fabrics.

Printed between 1930/1931 while Milne was living in Palgrave, Ontario. The print is more or less a reverse image of Milne’s oil Painting Place #3, a location known as “Gamble’s Bald Spot”, overlooking Big Moose Lake, NY. He used Fabrino paper (quartered sheets) and zinc plates that had been reinforced with steel. All are pencil signed while some are also signed in the plate. The objects from left to right are a painters box, coffee jar, 2 ginger bottles and a small spruce sapling.

Robert Lougheed (Canadian 1910-1982)

Robert Lougheed (May 27, 1910 – June 3, 1982) was a Canadian born American artist who specialized in images of the American West.
He was born and raised on a farm in Massey, Ontario, Canada. He became an illustrator for mail-order catalogues and for the Toronto Star, but studied in his spare time at the Ontario College of Art and then at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal. He went to New York City at the age of twenty-five as the pupil of Frank Vincent DuMond and Dean Cornwell at the Art Students League. However he continued to work as an illustrator for over 30 years and his work appeared in magazines such as National Geographic and Reader's Digest. Lougheed's work as a commercial artist included the Mobil Oil logo of the red flying horse.
