Not cool man. Not cool.

Listen up dude: you gotta love yourself first. And you are worthy of that love. Show your kids that you give a damn about yourself and that they should too.
……..
I love all of these movies. But it’s a really good point🤔… there are a lot of dangerous stereotypes about dads that only serve to reinforce false ideas about what it means to be a dad.
Too often dads are portrayed as: minded, disengaged, out of touch, unemotional, grumpy, overprotective, overbearing, etc. , — though usually really funny and pretty accurate — these depictions are deceptive. We need to educate our young dads that these are not the trademarks of a good father — even if it’s hilarious.

The first DADA meeting will be on November 26th. We will just be meeting to discuss the direction of the organization and plan for the future. Want to be a founding member of DADA? Send us a message to get involved!

We’re all pretty much just wingin it. 🏄🏼♂️

Be the kind of Dad that your children want to emulate.👔
On Saturday at 1:00 PM (November 26) we will be holding the first DADA meeting at Third Space Coffee . We will grab a drink and chat about what vision, direction, and volunteering for this new and exciting initiative. Send me a PM if you want to take part!
Interested, but not sure? Here’s some more info:
“Do I have to be a Dad to take part?”
- No! Though the aim is to make this initiative about Dads, anyone who is passionate about ending the cycle of abuse, is welcome.
“What can I do to help?”
- Right now the focus is to get organized and to get a group of people together who care about this issue and want to volunteer some of their time to make it a reality. I am hoping to have DADA be a registered non-profit in BC by end of January 2023. Once that happens there will be a lot to do!
“What kind of things will DADA be doing?”
- Once we have acquired Non-profit status, the first program we will be developing is a class for new and expecting dads. Then from there the sky is the limit. The main goal is to be a resource for Dads in Kelowna and beyond.

Featured Kelowna Dad: Adam Gajowiak
1. What advice can you give to a new dad?
Adam: “Advice that I would give on being
A new dad is helping the child, of course , but also your wife. As she’s gone through a event such as childbirth , she needs all the help from her husband. You have to be the strong one and take one for the house team!”
2. What is the biggest lessons you have learned from being a dad?
Adam: “Some lessons I’ve learned is to be patient. Whether it’s with your newborn or with your wife, this is key! Another lesson would be to just push through it… take the role of being up with your kid, whether it’s every two hours or every hour. They need that affection and love from you more than ever. I think the most important lesson, however, is to be strong for your family. Be the one that gets up at night, be the one that your child looks up to and be the one that they can confide in, now a days it’s so hard to lose focus on who we are meant to be, and after having my first, I am a dad, that’s who I am meant to be!”
3. What qualities do you think make someone a good dad?
Adam: “patience, respect, listening, communication and empathy.”
