I gained 10lbs over Christmas ๐Ÿ™Š

Yes you read that right, youโ€™re probably wondering how I go here โ€ฆ

Well, Dec 18th I checked in and weighed in at 175 (days before my period so a couple lbs heavier than my usual)

Nothing out of the ordinary for me with that,

I was still hitting the gym & tracking my foodโ€ฆ

Over the holidays, I preach alot about balance and moderation..

& while I full heartily believe in both of those things - I straight up did not follow that this year,

Christmas Eve Jeff & I hit the gym & then the feasts began

Quite literally, I went all out for our charcuterie board that evening and did not hold back Christmas Day either

Mimosas ๐Ÿฅ‚ & Land of Knod (like cinnamon buns) for Christmas Breakfast,

more charcuterie snacks all day, I made homemade turtles with Carmel & chocolate,

went full fat with heavy creams & butters for Christmas dinner,

Wine, Egg Nog, more chocolates ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฅ›๐Ÿซ

I didnโ€™t even think about prioritizing protein or being mindful around treats ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And it didnโ€™t stop there โ€ฆ

Boxing Day we went out to visit family, there was no gym where we were, plus not a lot of places to walk around

4 days of more snacks, booze & lack of movement

When we came home I checked in & I was up at 185lbs ๐Ÿฅต

10lbs up in 12 days ๐Ÿซฃ LOL

I feel like a lot of women would have freaked out seeing that number but guess what?

5 days later & Iโ€™m already down 6lbs

See I didnโ€™t actually gain 10lbs over Christmas

But the free for all around food, booze & lack of movement caused a lot of water retention, bloating & a tinny bit of constipation

Which is why the scale said I gained 10lbs

& instead of freaking out, beating myself up & saying โ€œI need to diet & lose weight this yearโ€

I just got back to basics so if you put on a little bit of Christmas weight, I encourage you to do that same!

Meaning use the time spent with your family for fun holiday festivities!

Keep up with your regular workout/cardio machine but also

Go to Christmas festivities, get extra steps by walking around your neighborhood & looking at the lights , check out snow hills& have a snowball fight!

Enjoy the season without spending more time in the gym.

I think the biggest reason you find yourself hovering over the snacks at an event is
because (women especially) donโ€™t eat all day to โ€œsave their caloriesโ€ but then end up BUSTING over them because of all the snacks around.

Eat your regular meals before you head off to an event, plan for treats by cutting carbs & fats down in your others meals & donโ€™t stand right by the snacks ๐Ÿคฃ

Itโ€™s the act of imagining situations that you WISH to be a part of

BUT taking NO action to make it come to life.

full of life,

full of love &

full of inspiration,

Theyโ€™re stuck daydreaming of a better life.

A Dreamer also has dreams of a better life.

BUT with that dream, they create their vision

& from that vision, they take action to make their dreams come to life.

they will meet a new version of their life on the other side.

That new version is their dream, the vision they created & the actions they took.

โ€œI just want to tone. I donโ€™t want to look โœจtoo muscularโœจโ€

These are words youโ€™ve probably said 100x when describing your fitness goals & quite honestly words I hear everyday when talking to women about their goals..

This is going to p**s you off but honestly girl, โ€œ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž๐โ€ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐š ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก, ๐š ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ค๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง.

What you really mean (that you donโ€™t even know you mean) when you say toned, is that you want less body fat & more muscles - that is what is that โ€œtonedโ€ look actually means.

What you really want, is less jiggle & more definition, sound about right?

You cannot โ€œtoneโ€ muscle, muscle either shrinks or grows...

When your muscles grow & you have less body fat, the more โ€œtonedโ€ & โ€œdefinedโ€ you will look.

on the other hand, the more fat covering your muscles & or lack there of muscles present, the less โ€œtonedโ€ you will appear.

๐ˆ๐ง ๐š ๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅโ€ฆ ๐Œ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž โ€“ ๐…๐š๐ญ = ๐“๐จ๐ง๐ž

So how do you make this happen?

๐‹๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐š๐ญ.

This is the most common reason why you wouldnโ€™t be as toned as youโ€™d like to be.

Your body fat percentage is too high and thereโ€™s a layer of fat sitting on top of the muscle you want to see.

This makes you look โ€œsoftโ€ and โ€œflabbyโ€ rather than lean and toned.

๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž.

Other times, you will have a low enough body fat percentage, but youโ€™re just lacking a sufficient amount of muscle mass.

This makes you look โ€œthinโ€ and โ€œskinnyโ€ rather than lean and toned.

๐ƒ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐›๐จ๐ญ๐ก.

And in other cases, itโ€™s a little of both. You maybe lacking muscle and have too much body fat.

All of these can be achieved with a properly structured diet, exercise & cardio plan ๐Ÿ˜Š

I know how it feels to feel hate the way your body looks in clothes,

to feel like you're doing everything right and not seeing results,

Thinking about food from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed
To feel like you have 20lbs to lose, feeling bloated & uncomfortable

I used to be just like you, trying new workout programs, diets, teas whatever I could in hope that โ€œthis might be itโ€

but yet, no matter how little you eat and how much cardio you do, to still not happy with your bodyโ€ฆ

I knew there had to be a better wayโ€ฆ

So I took a step back and re-evaluated the way I was doing thingsโ€ฆ

I became my own experiment.

And girl, I am happy I did that because it helped me not only build my ideal body and increase my confidence โ€ฆ

& this time also helped me to manage my stress better,

get RID of bloat and heal my digestive issues for good,

August has always been such a weird month for me in the past๐Ÿ˜ณ

Weird month meaning,

my birthday is coming up but a few family members passed away within days of my birthday

Plus some pretty f*cked up stuff with my mom in the hospital a few years agoโ€ฆ

So during a time where Iโ€™ve wanted to celebrate, for a lot of us in my family itโ€™s been a time of mourningโ€ฆ

Which makes it weird for me๐Ÿ˜

So when I turned 18, I vowed to celebrate myself, no matter what, Iโ€™d celebrate me & make myself feel special โœจ

I travelled for my 19th-21rst birthdays

22 was Covid - but I spent the day with Jeff๐Ÿค & doing the things I love, like yoga & I had a few good friends who made the day special

23-24 Jeff has made me feel like a ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿค

Iโ€™m seriously so grateful for him, he puts so much effort into making me feel special ๐Ÿฅฐ

& this is year, august 30, Iโ€™ll be 25, itโ€™s kinda crazy, a quarter life celebration ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot on it, who do I want to be in my 25th year, what do I want to experience?

& today I had a download come to me, on exactly how I want to celebrate turning 25๐ŸŽ‰

I literally had goosebumps come over my whole body & it happened to be also 11:11 ๐Ÿ˜ณ

& it involves you๐Ÿ™Š

Iโ€™m so excited about this๐Ÿ˜

But this is all I can say for now, Iโ€™m getting to work to make it all come together.

Weekends ruining your progress?

Save this post to stop the โ€œill start again Mondayโ€ cycle ๐Ÿ”–

It doesnโ€™t have to be that way..

This is why itโ€™s so important to enjoy the foods you want during the week too so that when the weekend comes you donโ€™t feel the urge to go balls to the wall & take a total โ€œbreakโ€ or โ€œcheatโ€ & potentially set you back on the progress youโ€™ve made.

Yes itโ€™s true, one off day canโ€™t ruin the progress you made but a constant cycle of โ€œgood during the weekโ€ & โ€œbad on the weekendsโ€ can.

Instead of try to be โ€œperfectโ€ which might be leading to your weekend binges, I want you to think about being 80% consistent

So take a look back on the last 30days..

Have you been AT LEAST 80% consistent with your diet?

Meaning, you only had ~6 days off track?

(When you visually break it down, it's crazy seeing how few days can be off-track just to hit the 80% mark.)

Now, you know me.

I'm all for being flexible with fitness.

Sometimes, it's worth going over your targets to go on a date with your significant other. Occasionally, it's worth missing your protein target to enjoy a few cocktails and tapas with your friends.

It's OKAY to go off track every so often.

But if you're going to make choices that slow down your progress, then you need to be okay with them.

Because the worst thing you can do is regularly go off track and then beat yourself up about it.

Wanna get results as quickly & efficiently as possible?

Cool beans.

Just know you'll need to be as close to 100% on track with your plan as possible, and that'll likely mean making lifestyle sacrifices.

If you want to spend more time going out to eat.. or having happy hour drinks with your pals.. or trying new cuisine that's higher in calories...

Then you need to be okay with slower progress.

Neither approach is right or wrong

โ€ข what matters is that you're setting realistic expectations and aligning your actions with those expectations.
