I gained 10lbs over Christmas ๐
Yes you read that right, youโre probably wondering how I go here โฆ
Well, Dec 18th I checked in and weighed in at 175 (days before my period so a couple lbs heavier than my usual)
Nothing out of the ordinary for me with that,
I was still hitting the gym & tracking my foodโฆ
Over the holidays, I preach alot about balance and moderation..
& while I full heartily believe in both of those things - I straight up did not follow that this year,
Christmas Eve Jeff & I hit the gym & then the feasts began
Quite literally, I went all out for our charcuterie board that evening and did not hold back Christmas Day either
Mimosas ๐ฅ & Land of Knod (like cinnamon buns) for Christmas Breakfast,
more charcuterie snacks all day, I made homemade turtles with Carmel & chocolate,
went full fat with heavy creams & butters for Christmas dinner,
Wine, Egg Nog, more chocolates ๐ท๐ฅ๐ซ
I didnโt even think about prioritizing protein or being mindful around treats ๐ณ
And it didnโt stop there โฆ
Boxing Day we went out to visit family, there was no gym where we were, plus not a lot of places to walk around
4 days of more snacks, booze & lack of movement
When we came home I checked in & I was up at 185lbs ๐ฅต
10lbs up in 12 days ๐ซฃ LOL
I feel like a lot of women would have freaked out seeing that number but guess what?
5 days later & Iโm already down 6lbs
See I didnโt actually gain 10lbs over Christmas
But the free for all around food, booze & lack of movement caused a lot of water retention, bloating & a tinny bit of constipation
Which is why the scale said I gained 10lbs
& instead of freaking out, beating myself up & saying โI need to diet & lose weight this yearโ
I just got back to basics so if you put on a little bit of Christmas weight, I encourage you to do that same!

These are words youโve probably said 100x when describing your fitness goals & quite honestly words I hear everyday when talking to women about their goals..
This is going to p**s you off but honestly girl, โ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐๐โ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก, ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ค๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง.
What you really mean (that you donโt even know you mean) when you say toned, is that you want less body fat & more muscles - that is what is that โtonedโ look actually means.
What you really want, is less jiggle & more definition, sound about right?
You cannot โtoneโ muscle, muscle either shrinks or grows...
When your muscles grow & you have less body fat, the more โtonedโ & โdefinedโ you will look.
on the other hand, the more fat covering your muscles & or lack there of muscles present, the less โtonedโ you will appear.
๐๐ง ๐ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฅโฆ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ โ ๐

So how do you make this happen?
๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ญ.
This is the most common reason why you wouldnโt be as toned as youโd like to be.
Your body fat percentage is too high and thereโs a layer of fat sitting on top of the muscle you want to see.
This makes you look โsoftโ and โflabbyโ rather than lean and toned.
๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐.
Other times, you will have a low enough body fat percentage, but youโre just lacking a sufficient amount of muscle mass.
This makes you look โthinโ and โskinnyโ rather than lean and toned.
๐๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ก.
And in other cases, itโs a little of both. You maybe lacking muscle and have too much body fat.
All of these can be achieved with a properly structured diet, exercise & cardio plan ๐
I know how it feels to feel hate the way your body looks in clothes,
to feel like you're doing everything right and not seeing results,
Thinking about food from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed
To feel like you have 20lbs to lose, feeling bloated & uncomfortable

August has always been such a weird month for me in the past๐ณ
Weird month meaning,
my birthday is coming up but a few family members passed away within days of my birthday
Plus some pretty f*cked up stuff with my mom in the hospital a few years agoโฆ
So during a time where Iโve wanted to celebrate, for a lot of us in my family itโs been a time of mourningโฆ
Which makes it weird for me๐
So when I turned 18, I vowed to celebrate myself, no matter what, Iโd celebrate me & make myself feel special โจ
I travelled for my 19th-21rst birthdays
22 was Covid - but I spent the day with Jeff๐ค & doing the things I love, like yoga & I had a few good friends who made the day special
23-24 Jeff has made me feel like a ๐ธ๐ค
Iโm seriously so grateful for him, he puts so much effort into making me feel special ๐ฅฐ
& this is year, august 30, Iโll be 25, itโs kinda crazy, a quarter life celebration ๐๐ป
Iโve been thinking a lot on it, who do I want to be in my 25th year, what do I want to experience?
& today I had a download come to me, on exactly how I want to celebrate turning 25๐
I literally had goosebumps come over my whole body & it happened to be also 11:11 ๐ณ
& it involves you๐
Iโm so excited about this๐
But this is all I can say for now, Iโm getting to work to make it all come together.

Weekends ruining your progress?

It doesnโt have to be that way..
This is why itโs so important to enjoy the foods you want during the week too so that when the weekend comes you donโt feel the urge to go balls to the wall & take a total โbreakโ or โcheatโ & potentially set you back on the progress youโve made.
Yes itโs true, one off day canโt ruin the progress you made but a constant cycle of โgood during the weekโ & โbad on the weekendsโ can.
Instead of try to be โperfectโ which might be leading to your weekend binges, I want you to think about being 80% consistent
So take a look back on the last 30days..
Have you been AT LEAST 80% consistent with your diet?
Meaning, you only had ~6 days off track?
(When you visually break it down, it's crazy seeing how few days can be off-track just to hit the 80% mark.)
Now, you know me.
I'm all for being flexible with fitness.
Sometimes, it's worth going over your targets to go on a date with your significant other. Occasionally, it's worth missing your protein target to enjoy a few cocktails and tapas with your friends.
It's OKAY to go off track every so often.
But if you're going to make choices that slow down your progress, then you need to be okay with them.
Because the worst thing you can do is regularly go off track and then beat yourself up about it.
Wanna get results as quickly & efficiently as possible?
Cool beans.
Just know you'll need to be as close to 100% on track with your plan as possible, and that'll likely mean making lifestyle sacrifices.
If you want to spend more time going out to eat.. or having happy hour drinks with your pals.. or trying new cuisine that's higher in calories...
Then you need to be okay with slower progress.
Neither approach is right or wrong
โข what matters is that you're setting realistic expectations and aligning your actions with those expectations.
