Happy Hooves Sanctuary
Welcome to Happy Hooves Sanctuary. Our animals live harmoniously in a safe and loving environment.
We would love to take your empty bottles for our bottle drive! Feel free to drop off your bags at Happy Hooves!
Have you ever wondered what those dangly things on goats are? They’re called wattles! 🤭
Wattles are usually found on the midneck but can also appear on the face or ears (last photo: Etta has ear wattles). 💚 They are considered vestigial structures, meaning they may have had a function in the goat’s ancestors but no longer serve a purpose in modern goats. 🐐 Wattles are believed to be a dominant trait, so only one parent needs to pass the gene for the baby to have them too. 🧬
Even though we don’t know their purpose for sure, they sure make cute jewelry on goats! 💎
Happy Halloween from the animals at Happy Hooves! 🎃👻
In case you haven’t seen our latest TikTok, did you know that emu feathers are unique? 🤔
Unlike most birds, emus have double-shafted feathers growing from the same follicle, giving them their distinctive shaggy look. 🪶 This structure helps emus stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat ❄️🔥It’s also one of the reasons they can’t fly ✈️
Squash is a very gentle (and a very fluffy) girl! She came to Happy Hooves extremely underweight and mistreated. After being rehabilitated with love and patience, she is now ready to find her forever home ❤️
Bunnifer is a gorgeous girl who was saved from being used for meat. After being rehabilitated at Happy Hooves, she is now ready to find a forever home.
Sushi is the sweetest girl! After being rehabilitated from a tough past, she’s now ready to find her forever home.
These adorable bunnies are still looking for homes!
Squash (brown angora)
Bunnifer (white Rex)
Sushi (white lionhead)
All 3 are females and spayed, they have been vet checked and are healthy. They are really good with other rabbits
Message us for more information or look at our previous posts for their stories!
Fun fact Friday! 🌟
Did you know that in the emu world, it's the males who sit on the eggs for around 2 months until they hatch, refusing to eat or drink during that time. Once the chicks hatch, the male raises them alone. 🐣
After laying, the female leaves and the dad handles
everything. In captivity, females have been know to kill their offspring since it is unnatural for them to be near their chicks.
🎃Have any pumpkins to get rid of? Bring them to Happy Hooves! Our animals will be thrilled to have a yummy snack!🎃
‼️ All donated pumpkins need to be paint, wax, and mold free‼️
Siblings by chance, best friends by choice ❤️❤️

Meet Peggy, our one-winged hen 🐓🩵
Peggy came to Happy Hooves Sanctuary as the lone survivor of a coyote attack that claimed her entire flock and one of her wings. Despite her sad story, Peggy is a very brave and resilient girl, though she’s a bit shy. She now enjoys the company of her friend Strawberry (our blind hen).
Peggy is looking for a sponsor to help support her care. Sponsor donations go directly towards essentials like food, medical care, infrastructure, etc. As a thank you for their support, sponsors receive a "Welcome to the Herd" package, seasonal updates on their sponsored animal, and a VIP pass for a private tour of the sanctuary. 🐾
Help make a difference in Peggy’s life - become a sponsor today 💕
