Today is a day of celebration for some and a day of mourning for others. The history of so-called Canada is one of colonization and deep harm to its indigenous peoples – but it is also a land of hope and beauty for the settlers who now also reside here.

Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People, is observed on May 5th. This day honours and brings awareness to the thousands of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited who have been subject to violence in Canada. Red Dress Day was inspired by Metis artist Jaime Black’s REDress Project in which she hung empty, red dresses to represent the missing and murdered women.

The GreenShield customer service call centre is officially off strike! This is great new for our members.

They are expecting call volumes higher than usual as they respond to delayed inquires. They encourage members to use the onlines services first and phone support when possible. Head on over to our website if you need any assistance in getting in touch with your benefit provider.

They’re finally here! Umo cards with Summer semester (May-August) or month passes are available now. We also help you to add day pass, ticket, or cash.

We had the chance to chat with Parliamentary Secretary for International Credentials, Ravi Parmar today! We talked about issues international students at OC and across the province are facing like 3-5X higher tuition fees, precarious housing and employment, and paying for MSP. We’re excited to see what positive changes are on the horizon for international students! Thanks for the great chat Ravi!
